Mon dormeur New Yorkais vu l'état où il était et , avant qu'il soit debout , dynamique et heureux ... je serai encore là bas entrain d'attendre !!😕 c'était juste sa position du moment que je trouvais drôle !! Il a du prendre un bon cocktail d'alcools et de drogues (A consommer avec modération, hein !!)
Et au sujet de la discrétion , mes photos sont toutes prises dans la rue ou dans des endroits publics autorisés aux clichés (Eglises , monuments , etc ..)où tout le monde passe ou visite en général alors si on veut dormir sans être dérangé ces lieux ci ne sont pas les endroits idéaux au repos surtout si ce sont des endroits à fortes fréquentations ou touristiques (Aucune prise dans un lieu fermé ou privé 😉)!!

Par exemple, ton dormeur New-yorkais me semble dans un triste état : drogue ? alcool ? les deux ? Jamais je ne me serai permis d'immobiliser sur une photo ce pauvre gars dans sa déchéance.....Je lui aurai laissé une chance d'être debout, dynamique, heureux.
Il était complètement bourré oui ! Moi j'aurais fait comme Lahaut, j'aurais eu envie de le photographier, c'est sûr... Par contre photographier la misère... et la montrer dans un jeu...😕

Ca me rappelle l'histoire du chien de Raga. Sa photo avait provoqué un tollé général, tout le monde (ou presque) lui était tombé dessus...

Je suppose que tu fais référence à la photographie que j'ai postée... Si c'est le cas, et comme je l'ai précisé, c'est un choix que j'assume. La misère existe, elle fait partie de notre monde, et refuser de la regarder ne va pas la faire disparaître... Ma photographie n'est pas hors-sujet, et s'il est difficile pour toi de la regarder ce n'est pas une raison pour venir ici la contester. Ce n'est pas la première fois que ce sujet est abordé dans les concours photo il me semble. Et puisque tu fais référence à une photographie de Raga, je t'invite à revoir certaines de ses photographies...qu'à l'époque tu n'as nullement discutées. Deux poids, deux mesures?

Il est bien loin le temps où ces discussions parallèles au concours étaient vivantes. Je me souviens de pages en pages avoir été amusée, étonnée, intriguée, en colère parfois. On y discutait d'un peu de tout et d'un peu de rien, on y échangeait des souvenirs de voyage, on y parlait technique photo, on s'engueulait aussi ! Bon, ce n'est pas ce que je regrette le plus mais à vouloir tout lisser... Faut bien dire qu'il est devenu périlleux d'émettre une opinion sur une photo sans être quelque peu...malmené 😕 Mais bon, ça, c'est pas nouveau. Dommage pour le reste... Ce rendez-vous mensuel était bien agréable et pour moi l'occasion de discuter avec des Vfistes que je n'aurais jamais rencontré.

Pour quoi faire ? Est-ce que ça intéresse encore une seule personne ici ? La technique reste encore un peu présente dans la rubrique "Photographie" heureusement, mais souvent (et un peu trop exclusivement) entre VFistes qui la maitrisent déjà un peu plus que la moyenne, ce qui facilite le dialogue constructif, objectif et sans "émotion"...
Faut bien dire qu'il est devenu périlleux d'émettre une opinion sur une photo sans être quelque peu...malmené 😕 Mais bon, ça, c'est pas nouveau
Ceci explique aussi pourquoi on ne peut pas parler "technique" (= paramètres techniques de réglage de l'appareil, mais surtout et avant tout composition soignée) avec certains Vfistes "concourophiles"... Ce n'est pas nouveau effectivement... 90% des Vfistes tissent des liens privilégiés avec leurs propres photos de vacances (l'émotion ressentie au moment de la capture de la photo conditionne sans doute cette réaction "épidermico-cérébrale" mal maitrisée, mais cette émotion n'est malheureusement traduite que maladroitement, justement par manque de technique et d'approche véritablement artistique, ce qui rend la photo la plupart du temps illisible et peu intéressante pour ceux qui n'ont pas vécu la prise de vue !) ...Et plus les photos sont banales, ordinaires, voire médiocres, plus les liens deviennent fusionnels et presque amoureux entre le "photographe" et son "oeuvre" (on voit même des gens qui pensent pouvoir vendre à National Geographic des photos horribles, ceci reste vraiment sidérant pour moi, qui suis en admiration constante face aux photos des grands reporters de voyages et ne leur arriverai jamais à la cheville, même si j'essaie en permanence d'imiter leur "technique" !😐)... Mais après tout, si on va dire à une mère qui a un bébé avec un seul oeil à la place du nez et la bouche en dessous de l'oreille gauche que son bébé est vraiment moche, on doit aussi s'attendre à une réaction violente ! 😛 Pareil pour la photo !😏 (à ceci près qu'il y a beaucoup plus de photos mal formées que de bébés mal formés et c'est plutôt tant mieux pour les bébés !😄) C'est dommage, car ça ne tire pas vraiment la qualité de la photo en voyage vers le haut sur ce site, mais il faut définitivement se résigner aujourd'hui à la banalité ambiante... avec l'amplification Facebookesque récente non négligeable qui n'arrange rien !

Bonjour, oui, excuses-moi j'avais lu le premier message d'Herman mais je n'avais pas suivi la polémique qui s'en était suivie....
Mon point de vue qui ne vaut qu'en tant que tel hein 😛
L'idée d'un lot est tout à fait sympa mais il me semble qu'Herman et toi avez été assez maladroits dans votre démarche parce que vous avez mal évalué le concours de photos VF qui est plus ludique que "sérieux". Au départ c'est un concours qui a été lancé par Lahaut, les participants sont en majorité des voyageurs lambda qui présentent leurs photos, de préférence "présentables " bien sur , mais ce qui jusqu'à présent était sympa c'est que c'était un concours sans enjeux ne s'adressant pas à des professionnels et permettant à chacun , au regard des critiques et des choix majoritaires de s'améliorer.
Dés lors qu'il y a un enjeu ( lot d'une certaine valeur ) l'esprit, et même la gestion du concours se devront d'être beaucoup plus rigoureux et notre "petit concours " y perdra beaucoup en convivialité. C'est en tous cas, comme je le dis plus haut mon point de vue .

Here’s the definition of a bridge: “A structure, typically made of stone, wood, or metal, that spans a depression or obstacle (such as a transportation route or waterway) by connecting the two sides or crossing over the obstacle.”
Viaducts, aqueducts, and footbridges will all be accepted.
Millau Viaduct
To allow for as many original photos as possible, the bridge can be photographed from the side, below, or above—the main thing is that it’s the focal point of the image.

Since it’s April Fools’ month and I’m a diver at heart, I had to pick a theme around the sea and fish.
This month’s theme is: sea fishing 🙂. Deep-sea fishing, rockpooling, shore casting, shellfish & crustaceans—anything remotely related to sea fishing fits the bill 😉
Photos of fishing boats, fishing ports, fish auctions, seafood stalls, nets and trawls, lobster pots, fishermen, your kids collecting cockles, even those New Year’s oyster shells 😏—no limits as long as it ties into the theme 😛 And of course, a special shout-out to anglers worldwide! 🙂
I’m traveling right now, so I don’t have many photos on hand. To illustrate the theme, I’ve chosen this shot of a small Vietnamese fishing boat I spotted near the Cham Islands, returning from a dive.
Contest rules: You can post up to three photos, each in a separate message, clearly numbering them (1, 2, or 3) and including the location where the photo was taken. Any explanations about your photos are welcome.
When voting, you’ll choose three photos, clearly stating the participant’s name followed by their photo number. The first photo in your vote gets three points, the second gets two, and the third gets one.
The winner will be the person whose photo earns the most points. In case of a tie, the winner will be the one with the most first-place votes, or if still tied, the most second-place votes. Sure, things might get tricky when it’s time to vote, but that could just be a sign of a successful contest, right?! But we’re not there yet.
Contest rules: You can post up to three photos, each in a separate message, clearly indicating their number (1, 2, or 3) along with the location where the photo was taken. Any explanations about your photos are welcome.
You’ll vote for three photos, clearly stating the name of the participant you’ve chosen, followed by the photo number. The first photo in your vote will receive three points, the second two points, and the third one point.
The winner will be the person whose photo earns the most points. In case of a tie, the winner will be the one with the most first-place votes—or, if still tied, the most second-place votes. Finally, if it’s a perfect tie, the winner will be the one who reached their score first. The winner will then have the pleasure of choosing the theme for the April 2026 contest and organizing it. Ties for any position other than first won’t be broken. Lastly, you don’t need to participate in the contest to vote. However, participants (and I hope there’ll be lots of you!) are strongly encouraged to vote!

To chat about waterways, this is the place.
I suggest we compete with photos of towers. No magic tricks or potter’s wheels—we’re talking about "tour" as in the feminine noun. So, a kind of tall building, round, square, or polygonal, or a high structure that could be metallic, or a flat-topped bell tower (campanile), or a high-rise building (building)...
You can find them almost everywhere in the world and from all eras.
The tower(s) must be the main subject of the photo.
Examples:
The first photo, which is Saint Mark’s Square (with the Campanile), won’t be accepted.
The second one, where the Campanile tower is the main subject, will be accepted.

So, it’s settled—the first idea (this book about the lush garden of a New York state parsonage, "this garden obsessed with the love this man had for his late wife." Reverend Cheney musically noting all the birdsongs, the water droplets in the watering can, the wind rushing through cloaks at the end of the 19th century) will be the theme.
Garden: A plot of land, usually enclosed, attached or not to a dwelling, planted with useful or ornamental vegetation.
So, private gardens, vegetable patches, herb gardens, botanical gardens, winter gardens with their lush greenhouses, the "hortus conclusus" of cloisters evoking the Garden of Eden, public gardens, and their extension into parks are all welcome. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some...
Photos can be posted until Monday, November 24 at midnight, following the usual rules: one per message, numbered from 1 to 3, with the location of the shot and, if you’d like, a few details.
Voting, where you explicitly assign 3 to 1 points to your top 3 photos, will take place from Tuesday, November 25 at 12:01 AM until Sunday, November 30 at midnight. The results will be announced on December 1.

This theme has probably been done before... but not recently, at least 😉 Doors—open, closed, of houses, castles... even if only the threshold remains. Since I’m not home, I don’t have access to my photos right now, and regarding the rules, I’ll let you refer to one of the previous contests.
Photos can be posted until Thursday the 23rd at 11:59 PM (Paris time). Voting will take place from the 24th to the 30th of October, and the results will be announced on the 31st during the day.

So, this theme isn’t exactly a "travel invitation," but coming up with a new one is quite a puzzle 😅. During February’s “white” theme discussion, we had pages of cats, so you should be inspired 😸. I won’t be restrictive—wild felines, domestic cats, and even those in zoos (though I’m not a fan) will be accepted. Plus, engravings, paintings, statues, or any other representations of felines fit the theme. The Sphinx is also welcome ;).

I’m currently in northern Finland and don’t have access to my hard drives, so I’ll add a few photos when I return to France. Here’s just one I took with my smartphone yesterday late afternoon:
