Hi everyone, We’d like to know if it’s realistic to go to Costa Rica (Playa Carrillo) in late September/early October. Is it too rainy? Does it rain all day, or just for an hour or so? We’ll be traveling with two kids—6 months and 2.5 years old. Do you have any suggestions for places to go? Is Playa Carrillo a good option with young children? Thanks so much for your help, and have a great day!

Hello

September and October are usually the rainiest months, especially on the Pacific coast. It’s rare for it to rain all day without stopping. The "usual pattern" is more like sunny or cloudy mornings, generally dry, then intense, sometimes stormy showers in the late afternoon. These showers can last an hour or two but rarely longer.

Playa Carrillo has a really beautiful, quiet beach, so it’s perfect for kids.

Enjoy the country—there are plenty of other great spots to check out nearby, like Samara, boat trips, hikes...

And food-wise, there are tons of dishes to try! Here’s a link to what we did and visited in Costa Rica for some ideas, and also the dishes we tried during our trip.
Il faut bien revenir pour repartir!

Hi there! 😊

Yes, traveling to Costa Rica in late September to early October is totally doable, even though it’s the peak of the rainy season. That said, it’s not usually non-stop rain all day. You’ll likely have clear mornings and early afternoons!

Playa Carrillo is a calm, really pretty beach with few tourists. Sounds perfect for a trip with kids! :)

You could also consider the Caribbean coast (around Puerto Viejo/Cahuita). The weather there might be sunnier.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you need more specific tips for tailoring your itinerary with little ones! 😊
