In this Casa de Yemanja in Rio Vermelho, Salvador da Bahia, fishermen set up an altar for Yemanja, orixà of the sea and protector of fishermen. Inside, you’ll find everything related to the sea and fishing: fishing nets, beads, seashells, boats, and more... It’s a pretty surprising place—people light candles and reflect in front of representations of this orixà. In February, an important festival takes place with offerings to the sea.

So lovely! 🙂

Hello, At the Packnam Chumphon fishing port, one of the largest ports in the Gulf of Thailand.

Hi Philippe,

Let’s just say we didn’t see anything—you should swap your gorgeous photos of Packnam Chumphon with the ones of Inle Lake you posted for the contest about fishing... at sea 😉 (so Inle Lake is *"not eligible"* 😛)

Have a great day

Hello,

Darn it... If only I’d read more carefully... Thanks for the info... I deleted it... That’s not all—I’ve got to find it now...

To go with my photo #1 (and because it’s still such a great memory), here’s village life at breakfast time on Ngapali Beach:

The small fish are sun-dried to be sent all over the country:

Why do people who talk about Myanmar always seem to do so with a touch of nostalgia? Is it because the country is currently inaccessible? I also have a very clear memory of Ngapali...

When I see all the “back from fishing” photos—and I’m guilty of it too—I realize there aren’t many forum members who are really into sailing or the sea! 😉

For me, it’s one of the few countries I left thinking, "I’ll be back." I think it’s a lost cause now 😕

Pretty impressive, Pagal—this display with the fish all lined up and even sorted by color ;)

Hey everyone!

Let’s keep the journey going...

Here are some really strange-looking boats I photographed on a beach in Hoi An, Vietnam... They definitely piqued my curiosity, but once they were in the water, I realized they’re actually fishing boats... "Basket boats" launched from the beach for coastal fishing. Too bad I didn’t snap a photo of one at sea... For more info: https://www.tonkinvoyage.com/vietnam-guide-de-voyage/la-peche-en-bateau-panier-vietnam.html

What I meant is that not many photos are truly taken at sea.
