Good evening,

Photo No. 2

In India (and elsewhere in the world) there are places that could be called little corners of paradise, but which quickly turn into hell, as Paul Theroux so aptly put it:

"As soon as a place gains a reputation as paradise, it heads straight for hell." (The Happy Isles of Oceania) 1992

You just have to visit before that deadline. Nisargadhama is one of those enchanting places, especially when two Tibetan monks appear on the path—there are many in the area since the site is close to Bylakuppe, the Dalai Lama’s winter residence (or so I’ve heard). And even in winter, the sun beats down hard ;)

Another slice of paradise, a little further east of India—these are the Banda Islands (a little nod to a former forum member) 😉

It’s often sunny there

Photo No. 1: By the Li River in China, it’s hot under the sun on this pier, so this passerby is staying covered... under a pink parasol.

JE Jemaflor Veteran ·
Photo No. 2: A parasol providing a bit of shade to protect... a lobster crate! Here, on the edge of Pinel Islet (Saint Martin Island, French West Indies), they take care of the lobsters by shielding them from the heat... before really grilling them and serving them up on visitors' plates, that's how it goes...

Photo No. 3: On a beach in Lombok (Indonesia). A fisherman next to his traditional outrigger boat, ready to head out to sea, his head well covered by his woven plant-fiber hat.
