For us, it’s easy—we’re from Normandy and retired, and from November to February, it’s gray and rainy here, so we head to sunny destinations. We also love swimming, so that’s a plus. Then we check travel advisories to see which countries are safe and allowed. For example, last year we went to Oman, but this year it’s no longer recommended. So we’re leaning toward Guadeloupe or Dominica for January 2026.

Hi there,
For me personally, music is one of my travel criteria—especially in Colombia, where festivals for Porros, Vallenatos, and other Reggaeton styles are everywhere, particularly in rural areas.
But up until now, it wasn’t the main factor for me, even though it’s a huge part of daily life for locals, who all blast music from speakers outside their homes.
For years, my motivation was love 😊—the romantic adventure I made the most of by blending my Latin culture with the similar vibe in the Colombian Caribbean, thanks to the internet, where I met many guys who shared our common passion.
Suffice to say, it was a mix of factors that led me to live intensely in the *Caraïbe ardiente* for 6 years. 🔥🔥 Case closed for me now, though—I’m taking climate change into account, and let’s just say I’ve become an old soul who doesn’t need to be told twice. 😄
New travel motivations await me across multiple horizons! 🌍
