A Series: June 2025 Photo Contest Theme (page 2 of 3)

Series #2

When a road in Aubrac, the port of Le Havre, and the mountains of the Basque Country take a mischievous delight in letting themselves be sketched by the mist...

Congrats to everyone—great photos and the theme was well respected! Final stretch: you’ve still got a week to share your images with us. And just a reminder, you can post 2 series! :)

Series 2: "Through the Spyglass"

In 2023 in Costa Rica, guides were all using tripod-mounted binoculars that let you take amazing zooms with just a smartphone! My series featuring 3 animals typical of the country.

Sloth

Anteater in the trees

Quetzal, of course! !

Hey Kate... what a great innovation!

Right now I’m in Champagne, looking at the vineyards, visiting the cellars, and tasting the results... Cheers!

Series 2: Artisan crafts in Vietnam

In the villages south of Hanoi, small traditional trades still exist.

This woman is making a conical hat on her doorstep.

This young woman is weaving rattan baskets in a small workshop.

This man is shaping small pottery pieces on his wheel.

Series 1 Photographers with an *e*!

Tsukiji Hongan-ji, Tokyo, 2015

Hochstrahlbrunnen, Vienna, 2017

Arsenale, Venice, 2022

Once you’ve finished dancing to the rhythm of the Fête de la Musique, you can start voting! 🎉

Since no one dared to go for the classic, I’ll just drop this here right before the bell 😄

Series 2: variation on the same theme by the Indian Ocean

Hi!

Dolma 2: 3 points No hesitation—once I saw this series, I knew it’d be on my podium. "It’s the uncertainty that charms us; everything becomes marvelous in the mist." (O. Wilde)

The rest is trickier. I have to say I prefer photos that flow without text breaking up my view of the overall image.

So: Solène 1: 2 points Xrtcn 1: 1 point.

Have a great summer, everyone!

Catherine

Hi everyone,

This is the toughest part: voting!

For their poetry, lightness, and coherence, I’ve chosen these 3 series:

UnaMilanese, series 1, 3 points Dolma, series 2, 2 points Solene40, series 2, 1 point

This doesn’t mean the others aren’t worth your attention—it’s just that my top 3 have that little something extra that really spoke to me. For other qualities or the questions they raise, every participant’s images are absolutely interesting.

Hi,

Here’s my vote:

Rouquine38 series 1, three points ⭐️⭐️⭐️

UnaMilanese series 2, two points ⭐️⭐️

Kola series 1, one point ⭐️

For once, the variety of choices offered doesn’t even let me be sure my pick is really mine—go figure...

Kola series 1: 3 points. For the arithmetic, the expeditiousness, and the clinical efficiency. Herodotos series 2: 2 points. For the academic approach, the pedagogy, and the strict adherence to the theme. Solène series 2: 1 point. For the colorization, the pastels, and the beauty.

Hi everyone,

Congrats and thanks for all these beautiful photos.

Here’s my vote:

UnaMilanese, series 2, 3 points Dolma, series 2 2 points Solène40, series 2 1 point

A big thank you to Kate for organizing this and for such an unusual theme.

Oh, it's so hard to choose!

Here are my 3 favorites—no specific "theme," just that *little something* that makes all the difference.

UnaMilanese – Series 2, fascinated 🙂🙂🙂

Kola – Series 2, nature as art 🙂🙂

Herodotos – Series 2, tea ceremony 🙂
