Uganda: 20 days discovering authenticity

Uganda wasn't in our upcoming planned destinations ðŸ˜Ū

Gotta fix that 😇

But now I'm looking at it more seriously, and these first photos are really tempting 😎.

That's better 😏

Thanks to the amazing travel journals we find on VF 😛 😇

Yeah! Besides, I’m not going on VF anymore because my list just keeps getting longer 🤦

Thanks for this travel journal full of those little details that are so valuable for preparing my upcoming trip to this destination (February 2020). Can’t wait!!

Uganda wasn’t on our upcoming travel list ðŸ˜Ū But now I’m seriously considering it—these first photos look amazing 😎

I can only recommend it 😎.

Glad you got to see the gorillas, but it seems like you really have to earn it 😉.

Yeah, there was a moment when we weren’t sure we’d see them at all… but that’s not the usual case. You should generally plan for 3 to 4 hours. Our girls would’ve been disappointed if it had been that short… go figure 😏!

A few more photos...

Lake Bunyonyi—if you love birds even a little—is paradise! 🙂

Our geodomes at Byoona Amagara, completely open to nature (you’ve gotta dress warmly, though)! Really cool!

On the way to Bwindi... with butterflies in my stomach !

The landscapes on the road to Ruhija are stunning. (Unfortunately, at the expense of the forest. Luckily, what’s left is now protected.)

Visited an orphan school with dances and songs.

The day is ending—tomorrow’s a big day 😎!

After a short night, here we are, ready... a little anxious on my part 😄...

A few hours later, our efforts are rewarded:

The forest, breathtaking ðŸ˜Ū.

There they are! At last...

This one stepped on our feet 😏!

🙂 Baby 🙂

Off to Ishasha, exhausted.

Hard to describe our emotion—it’s an incredible experience. We often talk about it as a family. We feel so lucky and grateful to have shared this unforgettable moment.

For us, thankfully we were at the start of the trip and all four of us were still in good shape, because later our stomachs struggled a bit, and it would’ve been even more complicated. More to come soon...

Still, it must feel pretty weird to have a gorilla step on your feet... ðŸĪŠ Not exactly reassuring, right!

Hi Delphine, The emotion is palpable in the photos. 🙂 We can understand your excitement before meeting them, the efforts made to find them, the relief of finally seeing them, and all those feelings that come up after leaving them..... I’ve got some good news to share with this link below: www.worldwildlife.org/...ZP2ZyOOlF9fwz_R2TfYE And it also answers some questions about whether it’s worth going to see these great apes.

Good evening, I completely agree with you—these travel journals let you discover beautiful destinations in detail........ I’ll take the opportunity to add that I’m really tempted to spend about ten days in Uganda in February to make this dream a reality and have the privilege of spending time with the gorillas......... and I’m looking for a travel companion!! So if you’re also up for taking the plunge??????? Have a great evening,

Corinne

Hi Corinne, Thanks for the suggestion, but Uganda isn’t on the agenda for 2020. We already have some great plans for next year—Kenya in April and then Peru in the summer. Have a good evening, Isabelle

Indeed, some beautiful plans...... I just got back from a wonderful Tanzania-Kenya trip a little over 3 weeks ago, and I visited Peru about 3 years ago...... such great memories! So here's to a wonderful 2020....

Best regards,

It all happened so fast we didn’t even have time to be scared, but it was still really impressive! :)
