Boss Dhow has a "public" boat and private boats. The itinerary is the same.

But with 6 people, we were on the same budget for both options (according to our agency). So, we went for the private dhow.

The other one was booked by a "young couple", probably on their honeymoon. Tanzania is mostly popular with honeymooners or families.

It’s not the most "backpacker-friendly" destination we’ve come across...

Thanks for this lovely travel journal 🙂 ......

Great encounters and beautiful images—the serval in particular. Incredible that it enjoyed the camera’s burst mode 😉

Don’t hesitate to post travel journals, even if there aren’t many comments on the forums these days. First, it lets you relive your trip, and the info you share is always useful to others sooner or later .....

Thanks for this travel journal and your amazing photos—they bring back so many memories! We did the same trip in 2022, minus the Serengeti (and no rhinos in Ngorongoro—didn’t see a single one😕. But we had the same experience as you with the morning mist😉), Stone Town (nice but not a huge highlight, except for the night market street food), and Matemwe. We didn’t go to the windier areas since I’m a diver and they’re less interesting (plus, I was disappointed by Mmemba).

I’ve never seen water as colorful as Matemwe’s.

A local from the beach you might’ve crossed paths with🙂

And you mentioned sports for kids in Jambiani—we had an audience😛

The cows are still there 😉

It's true that the beaches are beautiful and the colors incredible under the sun. A little disappointment when it comes to swimming; between the tides, the shallow lagoon, and the sea urchins, don’t come expecting "swimming, swimming, and more swimming".

It was a "travel agency" trip. Even though it's true that this is the solution adopted by the vast majority of travelers.

Tanzania (and especially the safari part) is often "the trip of a lifetime." We didn’t feel that same sense of awe in our previous summer getaways.

Here, everything is "easy" and everything is very well organized to satisfy the largest number of people. Just look at the average ratings of the agencies—you don’t know which one to choose... They’re all highly "rated."

Hello, Which local agency did you use, please? Best regards

As mentioned above: Serengeti Big Cats Safaris. Good, but you should insist on a "house" guide—always better than a freelance one.
