Bus Dakhla - Nouadhibou

Yes, the youyous, yes!
Maybe the presence of Moorish families in Dakhla explains these agreements. Let’s hope it’s the same for Dakar, since there are also quite a few Mauritanians in Senegal..๐
Thanks again, supergirafe...
Hello,
Yes, but that’s not the main reason—it’s mostly Morocco’s desire to join ECOWAS, which requires free movement of people and goods between member countries.
Add to that the existing trade between Mauritania and Morocco (camel meat and milk, fruits, and vegetables).
But the real target is Senegal. Relations with that country are very, very good. There are many Moroccans living in Dakar, where there’s been a Moroccan quarter for over a century, and vice versa. All these people find flights too expensive, especially since we’re talking about students and families of 4-6 people—multiply that by 300 €-500 €...
Not to mention tourism—being able to travel Morocco-Dakar-Ouagadougou-Cotonou more easily would be great for the whole region and make a lot of people on this forum happy ๐
Best regards,

in any case, good news for everyone: citizens of the countries involved and travelers.

Oh, thanks for these details! I didn’t know there was a Moroccan quarter in Dakar—it must be great!!! ๐
You’re welcome.
You can even go to the Souk there and buy babouches, djellabas... on Mohamed V Street.
Actually, it’s merchants and artisans from Fez who settled there back in the 19th century over several generations.

Hi everyone,
Fresh news!
I can confirm Supergirafe’s message.
I went to the Supratours agency at Bab Doukkala in Marrakech this morning. They called Dakhla and confirmed that this bus does exist.
I didn’t doubt Supergirafe’s word, but I wanted to buy my tickets in advance. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible—you have to buy them directly in Dakhla.
Update to follow on the 26th! !

I can confirm there’s a daily Dakhla-Nouakchott bus connection in both directions, with a change at the border, thanks to an agreement between two bus companies FROM BOTH COUNTRIES.
Phone in Morocco: 00 212 0669817028
Phone in Mauritania: 00 222 46091998
I went to the Supratours office in Dakhla in early November 2017

Hi,
Could you let me know if you ended up taking this route and whether it wasn’t too complicated at the border?
Thanks so much!

It’s been a while... I live in Paris now. I haven’t traveled for 3 years because of health issues and... Paris is expensive. ๐คช
I’m going back to Morocco in March, but I can’t do my long trips of several months in a row anymore.
It felt strange to come across this discussion again... I really miss Africa.
I went back in 2021 for a quick getaway to Mauritania.
How about you?

Hi there,
and yes, getting older isn’t always compatible with the kind of adventures we used to have.
I knew you’d moved to Paris. I think you mentioned it to me.
I’ve kept wandering around Morocco, just switched rides… now it’s a Renault Trafic with an automatic transmission. It’s small, comfy, and goes anywhere.
Not sure about 2015 yet… still sorting out some logistical stuff.
Great to be back on Voyage Forum… it’s so cool!
Have a good evening
Cheers
Claude

Hello, it feels really weird for me too to be back on the forum.
Shall we meet up at Bled Cloclo once the logistics are sorted? We’ll be there until 25/03.
