Indoor pool at Hearst Castle, San Simeon, CA There were four different tours available, and I took two of them. What I didn’t know was that all four tours started with the outdoor pool, called Neptune Pool, and ended with the indoor pool, made of Murano glass. So I saw it twice, with the same sense of wonder each time...

Wow, this keeps getting better with Kast13 (Valley of Fire), JauneSoleil (flyover of Lake Powell), Hiacinthe (Great Sand Dunes National Park), Gilou02 (Potash Road, Moab), Bluemesa (Curecanti National Recreation Area), Masterpoe (Hearst Castle), Deshaw (Cathedral Valley)...

Often, I’ve come across landscapes so photogenic that I thought a film set designer had just been there! You turn around—nope, no camera, it’s just nature doing its thing...

Here, it’s at Capitol Reef, Utah.

Hi, this is what I did, but it worked on the first post and not on this one. If someone can edit the message and enlarge the photo, that’d be great. Thanks

Hello everyone! To continue sharing the (stunning) landscapes of our favorite West, here’s a photo and an anecdote from Cheyenne, WY. I decided to show my travel companions (my son and my partner) the capitol building, which I’d already visited. It was late afternoon, and what we didn’t know was that it was technically closed, with tours finished for the day. We pushed the unlocked door, walked in, and heard someone belting out a song somewhere in the building. We wandered around quietly, and then, around a corner, a cleaning lady with headphones on appeared. She was the one singing! She was shocked to see us and told us the building was actually closed but that she’d forgotten to lock the door. Laughter on both sides! She kindly let us take our last photos. Dear Wyoming, you’ll always have my heart! PS: Just a reminder—one post, ONE photo, right?

Wow! It's stunning. Hope we can go there this summer with our SUV.

Cheers,

Christine

Hi Fabienne,

Often, I’ve stumbled upon "scenery" so photogenic that I thought a film set designer had just been there! You turn around—nope, no camera, it’s just nature doing its thing...

Yeah, it’s amazing what nature gives us in terms of landscapes.

Cheers,

Christine

Another surreal spot near Page, a place discovered with a guide: White Pocket. Yet another place where you feel like you're on another planet—it's tiny but takes hours to explore. Well, the photo won’t stay large; I don’t get it 😕

Alright, Laurent, I outsmarted it to display it big!

It’s stunning—it kinda reminds me of the divine "Wave" (but without the lottery, right?). Is it hard to get to?

Hi, I did this but it worked on the first post, but on this one it's impossible. If someone can edit the message and enlarge the photo, thanks!

Hi Laurent,

I tried, but I can't get it to work. I copied your photo and then uploaded it, but afterward, I didn’t see "add to text" under the photo. That would’ve let me post it large.

Your photo appears like this: Cheers,

Christine

PS: After posting my message, I realize it’s actually in large format.

Hi Fabienne,

I just realized we had the same idea at the same time. I don’t know if we went about it the same way, but either way, we ended up with the same result—Laurent’s photo is published in large format! 😏

See you soon,

Christine

And what about fishing?

I’ve met fishing enthusiasts elsewhere, but in the USA, isn’t there a huge concentration of them?

To pay tribute to them, here’s a photo taken in mid-May 2016 in the Sierra Nevada, Mammoth Lakes—more precisely, Twin Lakes.

I think it’s a great illustration of the love of fishing. I imagine that Bob (let’s say his name is Bob) is incredibly happy at this exact moment, far from his everyday worries. He’s got a stunning landscape before his eyes, and there aren’t many people around yet since the road just reopened....

Hello Fabienne,

I realize we had the same idea at the same time. I don’t know if we went about it the same way, but in any case, we ended up with the same result—Laurent’s photo is published in large format. 😏

Cheers,

Exactly! Great minds think alike (and sometimes collide). Laurent must be happy with all this attention!!! 😉

A few years ago, with my dad and my little one, fishing on the Snake River in Grand Teton during a stay with friends in Jackson, on our way to Yellowstone. How a full-blooded French Southerner gave a fishing lesson to a city-dwelling New Yorker on vacation who had no idea what he was doing 😉 Fishing permit to buy in Jackson! I’ve got more photos with the fish we caught that day, but one photo per post. And no, we didn’t come back empty-handed!

I’ve only visited one park so far: Yosemite, but I was lucky enough to see a bear cross right in front of me before it tried to cross the river.

Hi Amaya,

I’ve only visited one park so far: Yosemite, but I was lucky enough to see a bear cross right in front of me before trying to cross the river.

You can see the photo clearly by clicking on it.

I love the bear’s position on its rock. Apparently, the little guy is hesitating to jump into the river. The current looks pretty strong.
