Planning a bike trip?

For my part, I’ll be cycling from Brussels to Cape Town, passing through Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, and East Africa with a detour via Rwanda before finishing in Southern Africa.
I’m planning to leave sometime in September 2017.
Travel companion(s) welcome for part or all of the journey...
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me for more details about the project or check out the website: www.bikewithdiabetes.com
Have a great weekend, everyone!

It's really awesome to see all these bike trips in the works! Like I often tell my friends, once you start looking into it, you find tons of people doing bike trips and getaways. :)
We're getting ready to ride from Strasbourg to Berlin this summer, and in April 2018, we're heading from Strasbourg toward Southeast Asia. Maybe we'll cross paths on the road! :)

It's true, it's so motivating to hear about everyone's plans—from months-long trips to quick getaways for a long weekend. Every little adventure counts and creates lifelong memories. All our non-cycling friends and family are eagerly waiting for the story of our annual journey. If we ever skipped it, there’d be an uproar and major disappointment!!

So many amazing plans! I started reading them backwards and haven’t finished yet!
For our part, we’re preparing little bits of France. For now, we’re still in the "buy everything" phase—even the bikes—since we just moved here from abroad.
Here’s our project:
(very short stages to suit our youngest kids’ little legs—it’ll be plenty!)

Hi there, we're hoping to cycle through Drôme and Provence if the weather cooperates!
We're picking up our 2016 route where we left off—at Clelles train station (38).
Col de Menée, Châtillon-en-Diois, Saint-Nazaire-le-Désert, La Charce, Orpierre, Montagne de Lure (if we're feeling up to it), Simiane-la-Rotonde, Séderon, Dieulefit, Saou, Léoncel, (Col de la Bataille if we still have energy), then Romans SNCF.
We just spent a week training in the Luberon, which makes us optimistic for the rest of the trip.

Hi everyone,
Great post full of awesome ideas! 🙂
For us, it’ll be three weeks in Scotland.
We’re leaving in a week—so excited!
Then a round trip to Mont-Saint-Michel in the second half of July.
We’ll go there via the Véloscénie route and return to Paris via other paths we still need to figure out.
See you soon!

Safe travels, Dave, and thanks to everyone for sharing these amazing travel, hiking, and bike vacation plans...
I just finished an 11-day tour of Burgundy with a group of friends (Belgian, Swiss, and French), and my next ride will be from Strasbourg to Marseille from late August to mid-September, again with a fun bunch joining me on the roads of France.
In 2018, I’ll head to Quebec for three weeks for a little bike-camping adventure starting in Montreal toward Quebec City, Île d'Orléans, Montmorency Falls, after stopping at Mont-Tremblant, and back to Montreal via heritage villages and natural parks.
And of course, exploring Montreal with our Quebecois friends who are hosting and guiding us.
It’s what makes life exciting...

Hello,
For my part, I’ll be taking a two-week ride through the "empty diagonal" in July: Château-Thierry - Orient Forest Park - Chablis - Vézelay - the Morvan - Autun - Vichy - Clermont-Ferrand - the Auvergne Volcanoes Park - the Limousin - La Creuse - Châteauroux. 1,200 km of countryside.
And this is just a little warm-up before a 3- to 5-year round-the-world trip starting in March 2018

Lucky you, a trip around the world—a dream I may never get to live...
I wish you great prep, my neighbor from Hauts-de-France, and a fantastic ride through Auvergne.

Awesome world tour plan! Do you already have an itinerary in mind? Maybe we’ll cross paths on the road in 2018—we’re leaving early April. :) Happy planning

Never say "NEVER"! I just read this: Lucky you, a trip around the world—a dream I may never achieve...
It’s risky to write that; you might just end up doing it one day.
I wrote that post a long time ago, and back then, I probably had the same thought. Without being a pioneer or some kind of phenomenon, you can check out the few trips I’ve done. And I’m still far behind other cyclists who might’ve once underestimated themselves too.
Go for it!

Hi there,
On my end, I’ll be doing a loop between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan from July 8th to August 10th.
Starting in Dushanbe and ending in Bishkek, with a stop in the Pamir.
Any other members going to be there?

I’ve been preparing for this trip for over a year, but I’m still not sure what I’m getting myself into... 🤪
But at the same time, it’s that unknown that makes planning and actually doing the trip so exciting!

Hi everyone,
Bringing this post back up since it’s still relevant at the start of 2019.
For my part, my summer bike trip will be a ride down to San Sebastian, passing through Redon, Cholet, Niort, Saintes, Cognac, Bergerac, Agen, Aire-sur-Adour, Orthez, Ascain, and Lesaka, with arrival after 8 stages.
The goal of this trip is to catch the Klasika San Sebastian on Saturday, August 3rd. I’ll head back to Brittany either by bike or by car with my wife… who doesn’t like pedaling…😎 Everything’s still up for negotiation, and if you know of good accommodation in San Sebastian (hotel, guesthouse, etc.), I’m all ears for a great tip.
Cheers and happy trails!! 😉

Nice ride ahead!
For Clauio, retirees
A few plans
But we’ll have to pick from this list
The routes are pretty well mapped out
http://cbandiera.free.fr/parcours/projets.phpHopefully, after 10 years of daydreaming, this’ll be the one

True, the best part is before, when you’re climbing the stairs

And in 2020, though it’s still a bit up in the air: Morocco!

Great idea with those solar panels!
But isn’t it a bit too bulky?
The concept is interesting—maybe these are prototypes that’ll get sleeker over the years.
