Hi Claudio, The trailer’s bulk doesn’t bother me—if the bike fits, the trailer follows without any issues. Unlimited range.

Your bike trip in the works?

Hi there,

I was planning to do the Vélo Francette, but since getting to Ouistreham isn’t very convenient, I switched to Deauville. And since I’m heading to Rochefort, I thought it’d be like a Claude Lelouche-Jacques Demy mashup—but no, it’ll be Cherbourg-Rochefort, a 100% Jacques Demy road trip. I’ll try to find some little paper umbrellas to give to ladies in Rochefort.

That’s it.

I did part of the Loire à Vélo in summer 2018 and the Véloscénie from Chartres to Mont Saint-Michel that same summer.

Hi there, After cycling around Lake Geneva in 2018, along the Loire from Nevers to Nantes, and from Geneva to Istanbul, I’m thinking about doing Istanbul/Tehran or Istanbul/Tbilisi in 2019—or maybe a tour of Georgia and Armenia. I haven’t decided yet...

Hey everyone and happy New Year! After getting a bit too hot in Alsace during summer 2018, we’re hoping to spend 5 weeks in Norway—Trondheim to Bergen via the islands, then a boat from Bergen to the head of the Sognefjord at Flåm, followed by the trail that follows the old railway across the high plateaus and down to Oslo. After Denmark in 2017, we’re not done with the Vikings (or the rain!) !

Hi everyone and happy New Year! After a trip up north in 2018—Paris to Norway—(I enjoyed it so much that I also biked back), I’m hoping to head to Greece at the end of the summer with a family meet-up in October on Sifnos. Any tips would be welcome. Happy planning. Catherine

I’ve done the route a few times (in the opposite direction)—Greece to France (Jura, it’s shorter...). Personally, I went with the ferry option to Italy... I really liked it. Check out my travel journals and routes on my "site" www.lethieu39.fr. My favorite return trip (from Crete) was a bit unconventional, going via Sardinia and Corsica... lots of ferries, but it’s way better than a cruise!!! https://www.lethieu39.fr/cyclotourisme/cyclo-de-la-cr%C3%AAte-au-jura/ This year, I’m exploring the Croatian route, but going through the islands.

Happy planning (I love Greece...)

Hi there Just a heads-up, there’s a new direct Corsica Ferries route from Toulon to Sicily, I think. Fair winds to everyone

Hello and happy New Year to all you cycling travel enthusiasts!

My goal for 2019 is to set off again in early April, heading for Lapland.

• Venture even deeper into the interior. Ideally, taking trails in the middle of nature with 200 or 300 km of complete self-sufficiency. • Spend more time in northeastern Norway along the fjords of the Barents Sea (above Kirkenes, Vardø). • Improve my salmon fishing technique.

I’ve upgraded my gear accordingly (added anchor points to my tunnel tent, extra pole sets in case of breakage, new reinforced wheels, spare spokes, a new bottom bracket, and new fishing equipment...).

The wait is killing me, but I’m slowly slipping into the excitement of departure!

Thierry

That sounds like a beautiful trip indeed. The North is tempting me too... maybe next time! It does require a bit of organization though... In mid-May, I’m heading out again with my little bike and tent for about 20 days around the French Alps. Starting from Lyon, taking the Via Rhona, a bit of Semnoz, Evian, before heading south through some legendary mountain passes. Then, after Col de Vars, I won’t go all the way down—I’ll head straight to Mont Ventoux, pick up the Via Rhona again, and return to Lyon to say hi to a hiker I walked the Camino to Santiago de Compostela with back in October 2018.

Hi Pascal, A day on Île aux Moines is well worth the detour. Here’s a photo from last Sunday where Christiane is in front of Obelix’s table.

Hey Guy, how’s it going! Île-aux-Moines is on the plan, plus one night at the municipal campsite. I’ve got some contacts there who hooked me up with a sort of meet-up with a wild camping spot, plus all the must-sees in the area. Say hi to Christiane from both of us!

Hi everyone, Back from Morocco—a country that never fails to enchant—we did a 7-day road trip by e-MTB, tackling the trails of the Saghro with an amazing human-powered MTB guide who we struggled to keep up with... Incredible experience, I’ll post photos in the coming days. Safe travels!

Hi everyone!!

This post is still relevant, and I’m curious to hear about your destinations... For my part, I’m heading to Belgium, Flanders side. Here’s a rough outline: Rennes - Pont-Audemer - Abbeville - Dunkirk - Knokke-Le Zoute - Antwerp - Bergen op Zoom (Netherlands) - Herentals - Geraardsbergen - Koppenberg - Lille - Amiens - Les Andelys - Mortagne - Vitré - Rennes and back—*sniff*—if possible... Accommodation in hostels/hotels/maybe WarmShowers. Departure planned for July 15, returning on the 31st. I’d love any tips or good spots...

May the patron saint of bike trips protect you all in 2020. 😇

If all goes well, a tour of the Peloponnese... I still love Greece and its people just as much.

For our two-month trip, we’re always leaving from the Hautes-Pyrénées. In Spain, we’ll follow the coast to Gijón, then head down to Santiago de Compostela, then Portugal as far as Figueira da Foz. We’ll return through Spain via Burgos and come back to France via the Col de Roncevaux. 3,500 km starting June 18. Happy travels to everyone! Keep this discussion going. 😉

A 6-month tandem journey, around 9,000 km from mid-April to mid-October. Following our bike travels since 2013, we’ve racked up nearly 70,000 km across 5 separate trips.

We’re considering two projects: a.) Andalusia, Algarve, Alentejo, Porto and Douro, Galicia, Spanish and French Basque Country, Périgord, Brittany, Normandy, Belgium, Germany, Italy. OR b.) Japan (south and the islands): 2 months; South Korea: 1 month; Japan (second stay, 3 months: central and north).

The key for our first project is getting a long-stay visa for Schengen Zone countries, allowing us to cycle there for 6 months. This will be our second attempt! In 2019, we had to settle for Turkey and the Balkans (3 months total) in addition to our other 3 months in Western Europe.

If by any chance someone has that magic key, let us know 😉 .

Hello, hello! And happy New Year with all the travels that come with it. Last year, as I’d had the idea, I did Lyon to Sifnos via Italy, returning mostly by train (2,500 km). My 2020 plan: a big tour around France. I really enjoy planning my trips to dream about them, but once I’m on the road, I always improvise. Happy dreaming and happy travels!
