Hi Sylvie,
You got it right about the photos.
For the film, I haven’t watched all my footage yet—it’s taking a while...
Thanks for reading!
See you,

Hi Jean-Claude,
so glad you're already thinking about other trips. Uganda really is amazing, anyway!
Cheers

Thanks for this really great travel journal, and for the tips in QENP (we saw a couple of lions in the area you pointed out to us 😊).
We had a magnificent trip too—our whole family loved it! I’ll try to post a recap on the forum in the next few days.

Hi there.. Could you clarify the role of the porter? Do they carry the tourist?

Hi David,
Hi there... Could you clarify the role of the porter? Do they carry the tourist?
Whoa!
Not at all. Their role is to carry the tourist's backpack, but more importantly, to assist during the hike along with the essential walking stick. In some situations, the footing might not be stable, and having someone to support you, make things easier, and prevent falls is really helpful. Sometimes, the terrain can be quite steep!
In our group, for example, a woman in her fifties seemed to have a slight knee issue (it happens), and the porter often offered her a hand to get over obstacles.
I think it costs around $10-15.
When I got back to France, I saw a report about "porters" where tourists were being carried in sedan chairs, like in colonial times. We didn’t see anything like that in Bwindi!
On the other hand, in the recommendations given before the excursion, they mentioned the Ugandan helicopter—which, unfortunately, we might need in case of a bad fall, sprain, fracture, etc...
And of course, the famous Ugandan helicopter is the sedan chair. 😎
See you,
