Thanks for this beautiful travel journal—I followed it with so much pleasure. It brought back memories of our own trip, the kindness and smiles of the Burmese people, our wonder... It was... back in 1994 ;)

You can tell great travel photos by two things:

- If you don’t know the destination, you’re amazed and all you want is to go there!! - If you do know the destination, the photos bring back your visual, auditory, and even olfactory memories, plunging you back into your past trip "as if you were there."

Reading your travel journal, I completely related to the second scenario—really well done, Fabienne! 🙂

Hi Denis,

Thanks so much! Tonight I’ve found my activity: I’m going to make myself a nice cup of tea and quietly enjoy your travel journal about China. I just took a quick look at it... and even the little I read really grabbed me! 😛

Hi Fabhyène,

I'M DREAMING, I'M DREAMING, thanks to you!

We’re six seventy-somethings ready to go since we’ll be heading to Burma in October for 15 days. Your story is pure enchantment.

I think your stunning photos were taken with a DSLR? What model and brand? I have a Panasonic Lumix bridge camera and I’m considering getting a new one.

The itinerary I put together is very similar to yours, except for the Golden Rock and Mount Popa, which I had to cut. Could you share yours with me? It matches exactly what we want to discover. We booked with a local agency that came highly recommended by friends. Did some hotels stand out to you as better than others? Our trip isn’t set in stone, and we can still make a few improvements thanks to VoyageForum.

We’ve already traveled to different countries: Indonesia 30 years ago, one or two Chinese provinces, and then over the past decade, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Rajasthan, South India with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, etc. All incredible places, but we’re eager to discover Burma, which delights everyone who returns from there.

Thanks in advance for your reply, and a thousand thanks for your amazing travelogue.

Hi Yolande, We left at the end of January and stayed until mid-February, just over 2 weeks. It’s peak tourist season (January to March) because the weather is very mild then, but it’s still totally possible to visit at other times of the year. Best regards,

Hello Dorothée. First of all, thank you for your kind words—I’m really happy you liked them. I also have a Panasonic Lumix bridge camera that works great for me, with a powerful Leica electronic zoom. About 30% of the photos were taken with this camera, but my husband has a Nikon D7000 DSLR, and I have to admit I’m a little "jealous" of the quality of his photos. So when we got back, I bought myself a new camera, which I’ll be getting to know this summer in Italy. It’s not a DSLR because it’s too heavy for me—I went for a Panasonic Lumix G80 hybrid. It’s closer to a DSLR but much more compact.

For the itinerary, send me your email address via private message—it’ll be easier that way. Best regards, Fabienne

Dear Fabienne,

A huge thank you for your fascinating travel journal. We visited Myanmar last year, in January, and I relived the impressions and the joy we felt there. Your photos are absolutely stunning!!! You took me back there for a moment, which is priceless!

Dear Fabienne,

You made me go back there for a moment, which is precious!

Part of my motivation was to dive back in myself (or extend it, since the trip was recent)! Best regards
