But where are they and what are they doing?

A travel tip for foodies...๐
But where are they and what are they doing?

What I don’t like about VF are those who recount their trip in an overly poetic way: we took the train at such-and-such a time, we bought our tickets here, we peed there... To me, that’s totally uninteresting!
But when you look on Facebook, it’s horrifying: people who are lost because they don’t know how to search, those who want instant help *right now*, all those empty brains who don’t bother to think for themselves to learn and discover before asking relevant questions—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I remember sending links to a few idiots on FB, but they didn’t have time—they needed the answer *immediately*...
Not to mention the rise of AI.
What’s regrettable, in my humble opinion, is the forum’s closure for reasons that still seem "biased," with "stances" on Covid and the rest, ugh...
The upside is still all this archived history that’s "organized" and easy to search through.
Personally, I come here pretty regularly—there’s plenty to dig into—but info from the post-war era really needs updating through more active participation. Though that’d require VF to promote itself on other platforms!

Poetry? Is that sarcasm?
I personally love when people post photos of meals... sometimes they’re original recipes like steak fries or a bowl of soup with a glass of red wine on the side—it makes you want to visit the country!
So where are they and what are they doing?

Please don’t put me in touch with people who demand an immediate response, especially if they never bother answering anyone else, or those who politely ask questions but then turn rude if you say the slightest thing wrong.
I might end up with another bout of tachycardia and high blood pressure...๐
So where are they and what are they doing?

VF should still promote itself on other platforms!
Meaning what?

VF should really promote itself on other platforms!
Meaning what?
For example, regularly sharing the forum link on tons of travel-related posts on FB!

Okay, food is an important part of the experience 🍽️🍽️🍽️ But, just my opinion, there are quite a few stories that are a bit pompous... I avoid those 😄

But that’s just my opinion—there are quite a few a bit pompous stories... I avoid them 😄
Wouldn’t a little respect for the work and effort put in by their authors be something to consider, so that exchanges on VF can keep going? ;)
Because things aren’t looking great right now...

But that’s just my opinion—there are quite a few stories that feel a bit overblown... I steer clear 😄
Couldn’t we just show a little respect for the effort and investment put in by their authors? It’d go a long way in keeping the conversations on VF going. ;)

I said, "that’s just my opinion"

Hello,
Could you elaborate or give some examples of what you consider "over-the-top"?
So where are they and what are they up to?
Mathews · 2025-02-08 · Message 91 of 648
For example, regularly sharing the forum link in loads of travel posts on FB!
Facebook is so old-school—it’s for seniors heading to the beach in sandals, socks, and bermuda shorts.
Now it’s all about TikTok. ๐

First it was too poetic, now it's become pompous... Weird ๐

Yeah, but those users are still in diapers...
Instagram’s more for the active twenty- and thirty-somethings !

Yeah, but at this point the users are still in diapers...
lol I think you need permission for unaccompanied minors, right?

Change can't come soon enough, as the fuel used by aircraft is set to undergo major developments.
Today’s news tells us that we won’t be seeing a reduction in air-travel pollution anytime soon.
Airbus shelves its hydrogen-plane project indefinitely. A first-class burial.
Air traffic in India will more than double over the next two decades, making it the world’s third-largest market for aircraft manufacturers.
So where are they and what are they doing?
Jojoone1 · 2025-02-10 · Message 96 of 648
Yeah, I saw that. Some comments under the articles were even talking about "flying bombs," but I’m not really up on the tech side of things like that.
So where are they and what are they doing?

I've always been surprised that people consider using hydrogen as fuel.
First, it needs to be stored at high pressure in very strong (and heavy) tanks.
Then, it burns more easily than fuel and, even worse, it explodes when mixed with air.
A plane crash with full hydrogen tanks—during takeoff, for example—would be a total disaster.
So where are they and what are they doing?
Zorba · 2025-02-11 · Message 98 of 648
We use liquid hydrogen: there’s no pressure issue, but rather insulation and the use of materials that can withstand low temperatures. Liquid hydrogen is the most energy-dense fuel by volume—it’s tempting!
It was successfully used in the Saturn V rocket, but with airships like the Hindenburg, it led to a series of disasters. Helium of equivalent weight is much more expensive.
I’m not sure if hydrogen explodes when it leaks in liquid form, but once it vaporizes, it quickly causes an uncontrollable fire.

Not unhappy if my posts can be worth a few reappearances! ๐
