Hi Guillaume, we had a great time there during our trip last fall. We also really enjoyed Ajo. Beautiful photos!

Hi Antoine, We also loved the peaceful atmosphere in Ajo, its plaza, and the kindness of the two retirees who welcome visitors at the small copper mine museum.

Alright, I'm giving in and posting my second photo. A September day in 2018 between Dolores and Telluride in Colorado.

A little meet-up on the way out of Yellowstone toward Cody. Edit why isn’t this working?????????? If someone figures it out😉

Reposting the beautiful bear in full! I wonder what animal is its prey—it’s a hoofed animal, do you think it’s some kind of deer?

Anyway: @Zemidjan: your montage is really cool! @swimmer: I kinda thought you’d like this idea—it’s FUN bouncing off each other’s memories, we just needed enough people who wanted to join in! And it makes such a beautiful mosaic. Anyway, I’ve never met anyone who’s been to the West and doesn’t get stars in their eyes talking about it. Not to mention I’ve picked up some great tips for future trips—places a little off the beaten path that I’m discovering thanks to everyone. @Mitchy, Cedk03, Arnaudbu, Louis92, welcome to the club! @Andarelli, the tree colors in September are amazing! @Bluemesa, I’m gonna have to stop saying your photos are stunning, but… the sky in this one is extraordinary!

Good evening,

I’m back with another favorite from the Great American West:

Our hot-air balloon baptism over the rock formations around Moab. We watched the giant inflate against the rising sun and could follow our balloon’s shadow on the cliffs. A fantastic memory—it was pure magic.

Happy travels!

Reposting the big beautiful bear! I’m wondering what animal is its prey—it’s a hoofed animal, do you think it’s some kind of deer?

Good evening Fabienne,

I think the bear’s prey in this photo is a "mule deer."

Cheers,

Christine

We did the same! 😉

Maybe one of you camping down here?

We did the same

Ours was in August 2017, before the solar eclipse we went to see in Oregon..

Maybe one of you camping down here?

Well, no, we were just in a motel in Moab...less rough-and-tumble than wild camping

It’s actually pretty rare, but I think I once saw a trip report from a forum member who showed only moderate enthusiasm...

Hello Fabienne,

One place I particularly love in **Grand Teton National Park** is **Oxbow Bend Turnout**, where the Snake River curves. Mount Moran is reflected in the water. It’s also a great spot to see wildlife (moose, beavers, otters, etc.). This spot is less than 2 kilometers east of Jackson Lake Junction. But I couldn’t post my photo because it didn’t have enough pixels (it was taken in 2007 with an old camera).

I’ll post another photo. This one was taken in the late afternoon in July 2013 at a viewpoint we loved—**Sunset Point** in **Capitol Reef National Park**:

Have a great evening!

Christine

Hi Masterpo,

Catherine explained why she didn’t like California. On the other hand, she enjoyed her road trip through the American Northwest, from Seattle to Yellowstone: https://voyageforum.com/v.f?post=8151667;#8151667

See you soon,

And the small details?

So far, we've posted a lot of stunning landscapes, widescreen full HD shots, and it's true that's where you get blown away: depth, scale, colors... But there’s also a whole host of beautiful little details. We’ve seen cactus flowers, and now I want to post a cool lizard (maybe even two...). I really love reptiles (though there are some snakes I’d rather not step on). I’ll start with this lizard, who was probably convinced we couldn’t see him... And I’ll keep going (yes, I’m breaking my own rule, but it doesn’t count—it’s such a tiny creature, right!) with this little iridescent gem...

What details struck you?

A license plate?

Why not? I’ve got a pretty good one in that style—it raves about potatoes!

But it could also be certain signs...

A license plate at Canyon de Chelly

And this sign on the door of a Route 66 bar. It really caught my eye.

I think we always come back from the U.S. with hundreds (thousands?) of photos every trip, so there’s plenty to add to the topic! Thanks again for starting it—I’ve become totally hooked.

Hi Fabienne,

I love lizards too.

At Zion NP, the one I particularly liked was this one:

It looks small here, but when I crop the photo to get a better view of the lizard, I can't post it because it doesn't have enough pixels.

And I adored this one: that I saw at Canyon de Chelly.

I've seen other colorful lizards: at Arches NP and Hovenweep NM (www.nps.gov/hove/index.htm)

Among the reptiles I've seen, there were snakes too, including a rattlesnake near Lake Powell, but like you, I'd rather run into lizards 😉

Have a great afternoon!

Christine

This poster seen in the window of the famous Denver shop Rockmount. Not being a Walker, I couldn’t go in ;)

Actually, it was closed ;)

And in a different style, still in Denver, a business idea that doesn’t require much investment. The photo is from 2016, but it’s still up and running!
