hi there,
using the diplomatic pouch means you need to send this file by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt to the embassy.
the address (MAE French Embassy in Lomé (TOGO) - Consular Section - 13 rue Louveau - 92438 Châtillon cedex) should be written on the registered mail,
the letter will be sent to the address above and then forwarded to the Togolese embassy via the diplomatic pouch.
don’t wait for the receipt confirmation, it’s never sent back.
if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate.
Best regards, Benoit

Hi there,
I’m right in the middle of putting together the CCAM file, and I’m really struggling with my Togolese spouse’s paperwork. Could you help me make sense of it?
It’s mostly about the birth certificate documents:
- Is section 4 the original birth declaration?
- Is section 1 (the stub) the full copy?
- And they’re also asking for “original certified true copy of section 1 of the foreign future spouse’s birth certificate”—what does that mean? What should I ask the town hall for? It seems different from the full copy, which I thought was section 1 🤷🏾♀️
I’m looking for someone who got married recently to help me with the steps because the Togolese embassy never answers my questions, and I can’t find any answers anywhere! Thanks in advance 😅🏾😅🏾😅🏾

Hi! For the paperwork, you’ll need to go to the town hall in the place where they were born and request each document—each one is different. They’re usually pretty familiar with the process at the town hall, but you’ll see that for section number 4, they might ask for either 4 or 5. And make sure you send the originals!
Hope that answers your question!

Sorry, this isn't very clear to me, haha! In the file, they say exactly this:
1) original of the certified true copy of section No. 1 of the foreign future spouse’s birth certificate (with translation and possible legalization if issued by a foreign authority)
2) original of the full typed copy (i.e., typed by typewriter or computer) of section No. 1 stub of the foreign future spouse’s birth certificate
3) original of the certified true copy of the original of section No. 4 or 5 of the foreign future spouse’s birth certificate
For (1), do I need to ask the town hall for section No. 1 and get a certified copy? What’s the difference with (2)?
For (2), okay, that’s the full copy of the section No. 1 stub from the town hall—no problem with that.
For (3), is that the paper they have at birth, the handwritten birth declaration, and we need to submit a certified copy of that?

Okay, for number 1:
- They’ll give you the original of the certified copy of form n1 (it’ll be handwritten). It’s already a certified and legalized copy, which is why you shouldn’t send a copy of this document but the original they issue you.
For number 2:
- It’s the same document, but they’ll give it to you typed (that’s the difference).
For number 3:
- It’s indeed the document they have at birth, form n4 at the town hall. They’ll make you a certified copy (stamped and dated).
So, you hand in the originals of the documents issued by the town hall.
Hope I’m being clear enough!

hi,
for my part, all these steps are done—I got married in August 2019.
As for the documents required, in Togo, they need to be authenticated, certified, and legalized. They’re used to mixed marriages at the civil registry, so your future spouse just has to ask for the documents they need—they’ll give them to him. Which town hall in Lomé?

Yes, I saw that everything needs to be legalized, but for the CCAM, French documents don’t need legalization, right? That’s what I was told about the wedding. For the town hall, he needs to get it from his village specifically because of his birthplace—that’s why I needed clear info in case they’re not used to it. Did you get married at the town hall in Lomé or at the embassy/consulate?

Yes, that's right—you need to pick up the documents from the place of birth. I asked if it was Lomé because I know someone at the civil registry in Lomé.
We got married at the Lomé town hall. Contrary to what you might read on forums, the French embassy doesn’t perform marriages.
If you have any questions about the different steps, don’t hesitate—I’ll be happy to help.

Alright, thanks so much!
I think I’ll get back to you about the deposit to celebrate the wedding and all that. We’re planning to do it at Lomé town hall, so thanks again!

No problem, if I can help you I’d be happy to. Having gone through it myself, I know you’ve got quite a few questions and that embassies, town halls, and others don’t give much info.

Hi Benoît,
My fiancé is Togolese, and we're right in the middle of applying for the CCAM... For the French nationality proof section, do I need to provide all the documents listed, or are they just examples of what can be used? Is an ID card enough? Same question for proof of residence—what’s required?
Thanks in advance for your help!

good evening
Yes, you need to provide all the documents requested on the CCAM list.
Proof of address, a copy of your EDF subscription contract will work just fine.
For proof of French nationality, a copy of your ID card is sufficient.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any help.
Best regards

Thanks! It was about the proof of residence and identity documents that I had doubts, so this reassures me! The first step is almost ready to be sent off!
We’ve allowed for a 4-month delay once the application is submitted—I hope that’s enough!

Hello,
Yes, if there are no issues with your application, you should receive a response within about 4 months. Don’t forget that we’re still in a COVID period, and to help others who are in the same process, the embassy has announced delays in processing applications.
Don’t wait for the return of the registered mail after sending your documents—the embassy doesn’t send it back.
Best regards

Hi there, I’m now at the stage of gathering the documents requested by the Lomé city hall. They’re asking for a certificate of single status—does anyone know where I can get this online? All the info out there seems different.
Thanks in advance!

Normally, you don’t need to provide a certificate of single status—the CCAM serves as proof for the French national.

Hi,
In the file for the town hall, they’re asking us for the original marriage capacity certificate?! But I saw we also need it for the transcription, right?! How did you all handle this?

I didn’t do it, but they don’t usually keep your original.
