hi there
I checked it out—this trip along the river looks great!
I’m planning to do it this winter... if we can actually go!
For now, we’re just enjoying ourselves in front of the TV!
But it must be really tough for those who depend on tourism!
have a great summer!

We're all itching to get back out there... for me, it'll be Mauritania once again.
Yeah, doc, it's a cool spot—lesser-known region along the Senegal River toward Podor.
I know the other bank a bit, on the Mauritanian side, but it's not quite the same.
At least from what I've seen.
I prefer the Senegal side.
We're traveling however we can these days.
Have a good evening

Not looking good for this winter.
We'll see, for Senegal or somewhere else, and that's that...

hi Béatrice!
I’d planned to take my little Franco-Senegalese grandson to visit his country!
I wanted to do the cruise on the Bou el Moktab with friends, but it might get pushed to another winter!
I’ve been to Saint-Louis, but not along the river!
In the meantime, I’m going on a tour of France in September with some seaside stops on the Atlantic!
We’ll see what 2021 brings!
Best,
francia

I think there’ll be more deaths from the consequences of COVID than from COVID itself!
What a sad world !

Every illness can become more complicated... there's not much else we can do other than look for a reliable medical solution and, in the meantime, protect ourselves as best we can.

Hello Béatrice!

We’ll see in 2021!

Hi Francia,
You know that in your "seaside stops on the Atlantic" there’s Royan—I know, it’s just the mouth of the Gironde, but if you want to come here, I’d be happy to host you. It’ll give us a chance to talk about the good old days in Mali. I’ll be here in September and won’t leave until early October for Jordan, Inshallah!

hi Colette
why not Royan, indeed!
I’ll send you a PM to give you more details!
indeed, we never could have imagined such a sad fate for this beautiful country!

Hi everyone, "Échappée belle" is just cinema—editing and montages. The reality is quite different, and this applies to all travel shows (well, in all the countries and regions I know, at least)...
Best regards,

Of course.
But in this particular documentary, we see places that aren’t usually covered. It’s a nice change.
On the other hand, it’s clear that films and their edits never—or very rarely—reflect the full reality of a country.
Often, they smooth things over, make them generic. *Échappées Belles* isn’t immune to the glossy travel-show clichés.
But how many travelers keep bombarding us with their own preconceived images (like the famous *Teranga* or "my amazing guide so-and-so," etc.)?
You wonder if they ever really open their eyes...
That said... we’re lucky (or have chosen) to travel, and these shows might encourage others to take that step.
Best,
Béatrice

hi there
sure, it's all cinema—just beautiful places, no focus on the hardship!
that doesn’t sell!
sad reality!

It’s mostly a show where nearly all the presenters are unbearably silly. So typical of French TV—it almost ruins the fun.
Jérôme Pitorin managed to avoid that for a while, but only just.
