Processing time for a tourist visa at the French embassy in Jakarta

Hi everyone, I’m looking for info on how long it takes to get a tourist visa in Jakarta. My Indonesian friend has almost all the documents ready but is missing flight tickets and insurance. We’d like to book them last minute for practical reasons. Has anyone had a recent experience and could tell me how long it usually takes? Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I’d recommend budgeting at least a month. I went through this last year with an online visa application. If everything goes smoothly the first time, it can be fairly quick—still a good two weeks to get a response. But it might take longer (they could ask for additional documents or clarifications). Also, keep in mind the answer could be negative... Plan for a modifiable flight ticket, or even better, a refundable one! !

Hi there, for Indonesian visas, you can get them on arrival in the country. Personally, I prefer applying online, but it can take 10 to 15 days. That said, it’s very convenient. Just a heads-up—if you plan to stay longer than 2 months, you’ll need to apply for a 60-day e-visa and renew it once you’re there. In that case, you won’t be able to get a visa on arrival.
