Visiting the west and east coasts of Malaysia in a month

Chreve · 2024-10-21

Hi there, we’re planning a trip of just over a month on the dates mentioned above (we haven’t booked our tickets yet). We’re backpacking globe-trotters as long as our energy holds out. We’re pretty familiar with several Asian countries. Do you think that at this time of year and with the time we have, it’s realistic to visit both the west and east coasts? Thanks in advance for your replies. Best regards.

hi,

You didn’t mention your travel dates.

In one month in June, we had plenty of time to visit the inland areas, Penang, and Pangkor on the west coast, and Tioman on the east coast. Long distances covered by bus only. If we’d hurried, we could’ve spent a little time on another island on the east coast.

True, I thought I’d included it, but it only kept the beginning 😕

It’s roughly from mid-February to mid-March 2025.

Thanks. Best regards.

Hi everyone,

It's official—our tickets are booked! We leave on February 23rd and return on April 2nd, 2025. 37 days on the ground. Backpacking trip with stays in bungalows or guesthouses. Do you think we can visit both the west and east coasts during this period? And... even better, what route would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for all your ideas, opinions, tips, and great deals.

Best regards, Chris and Eve.
