Getting Around Ko Lanta with Kids

Hi, Is it better to get around Ko Lanta with kids by taxi, tuk-tuk, or by renting a car? I don’t want to use a scooter since I don’t have a motorcycle license. Thanks

Since I have an international driver’s license, I would’ve gone for renting a vehicle. Local transportation is often significantly more expensive on the islands.

Hi, If you're staying only on Koh Lanta, taxis should be enough, but if you want to be independent, don’t hesitate to go for a car. There isn’t much traffic on the island, so it’s perfect for driving.

We left a 5000 baht deposit (which they returned when we brought the car back). The rental contract only had one clause requiring a flat fee to be paid in case of vehicle loss or theft.

Just make sure to take photos of the vehicle to avoid any issues when returning it. This rental company was completely professional and spoke good English.

Otherwise, if you're coming from Krabi Airport, all the well-known car rental agencies are there.

Personally, I rented from Sixt a year ago... I even returned the car with a little dent in the back, and phew, they didn’t say anything.
