Thai visa and multiple entries for more than 90 days

My partner and I are planning a trip to Thailand, Laos, and Japan. To do this, we’re thinking of booking a flight ticket from Paris to Bangkok, departing in January 2025 and returning in April 2025. During this period, we’d travel overland to Laos and fly to Japan from Thailand, then return to Thailand. What type of visa should we apply for at the Thai embassy? Thanks in advance. Best regards,

For Thailand, you get a 60-day visa exemption when arriving at the airport.

For Laos, a 30-day visa can be obtained at the Laotian embassy in Paris or via e-visa on the Laotian embassy’s website in France.

For Japan, I can’t help you.

When you return to Thailand, you’ll get another visa exemption upon arrival in Bangkok.

Since I’ll be arriving in Bangkok with a flight ticket (Paris-Bangkok) that covers a period of more than 90 days (between my arrival and departure), will the 60-day exemption still apply? Yeah, that’ll work, as long as you have a continuation ticket to Laos or Japan before the end of the 60 days.

That’s what I do all the time, and I leave again at the start of the year.

Small clarification: you can also get your Laos visa on arrival. Depending on the border crossing, there’s a risk of a backlog

No visa is needed for Thailand if you stay up to 60 days (entry and exit days included). For Laos, you can get a 30-day e-visa directly on their website. For Japan, you can stay up to 90 days without a visa. To make entry smoother, there’s a website called "Visit Japan Web"—you create an account, fill in the required info, and it’ll generate a QR code for immigration and customs. It’s free, and you won’t have to queue on arrival. Do this between 15 days and 24 hours before your entry date.
