Costa Favalosa cruise from Marseille to Hamburg: what to do in A Coruña and Le Havre?

Hi, I’m going on a solo cruise from Marseille to Hamburg—13 nights, 4 days at sea on the Costa Favalosa. The stops are Genoa, Barcelona, Málaga, Cádiz, Porto, A Coruña, Le Havre, and Hamburg. I’ve booked a Costa excursion for Porto and Hamburg that ends at the airport. I plan to explore the other stops on my own (I’ve already visited Barcelona and Málaga). The stops should be pretty easy to do solo, but I’d love any tips on A Coruña. I’d also like to know if there’s a shuttle to get out of the port in Le Havre or go into the city center. Hi Varoise, - In Le Havre, there’s no public transport shuttle. I know MSC used to have one to reach the city center (that was pre-Covid), but I don’t remember anything for Costa. - In A Coruña, the port is really close to the heart of the city. You can reach the main shopping street (Calle Real) in 15 minutes. From there, you can explore the entire city center on foot without any issues. There’s also a bus (Line 1) that runs between the Maritime Station and the Bus Station, with plenty of connecting bus lines if you want to go somewhere specific in the city. Best regards

Thanks for your reply and the info about the city buses from the maritime terminal in A Coruña. I’m not sure what I’ll go see in the city yet, but a city bus to shorten the round trip is always handy for me. 😉 Have a great evening

Good evening, It's always nice to return to the port by bus or tram when you start getting tired or when it begins to rain (it rains often in A Coruña!), ... but line 1 runs along the seafront, so if you head into the city center, you'll need another mode of transport to reach a seafront bus stop. In A Coruña you can visit the Tower of Hercules. Walking along the coast is really nice. For Le Havre, I took the shuttle, but it's possible to walk to the city center since it's very close. Given the weather, I went to the MuMa museum and did some shopping during the sales (January).

Hi there, From the cruise terminal (quai Roger Meunier) to the center of Le Havre, it’s a good 2.5 km. To me, that’s not "right nearby." Plus, there’s major construction on the quays (I boarded there at the end of August)—they’re building a brand-new terminal for 2025. So the walk isn’t exactly pleasant. Best regards

Good evening Lol68, It's really kind of you to give me your tips. For A Coruña, I don’t think I’ll visit the Tower of Hercules because the whole point of a lighthouse is being able to climb it, and that would be way too many steps for me with my two operated knees (you couldn’t have known ;)). I think I’ll just stick to the old town. For Le Havre, I’ll take a shuttle to get out of the port and into the city if it’s possible. I read in a cruiser’s review that the city center isn’t close by. Maybe a taxi with other people otherwise—we’ll see. I’ve spotted the MuMa museum, which I’d really like to visit. Best regards, Varoise

You're right—with an August boarding, your info is pretty recent. Of course, for cruisers, having the ship docked right near the city center is ideal, but that’s rarely the case in big ports, so I’m not surprised about Le Havre. Construction is never fun, but a new terminal in 2025 will probably be great for future passengers, so that’s a plus! 🙂 Best regards,
