Fog in northern Vietnam in January?

Hi there, We're planning a trip to Vietnam in January 2025. As I start mapping out the itinerary, I see it’s not the ideal season for the north—we might run into a lot of fog. What do you think? Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this!

Definitely avoid January and February—cold, foggy, and just bleh.

Hello, Indeed, there are risks in the North: cold and fog. You can fight the cold and gear up to handle it. The fog gives the mountains a special charm. If you still have to go at this time of year, don’t leave with fears—you’ll come back enchanted. The ethnic groups are lovely and welcoming, the markets are always lively, and the fog isn’t there all day or every day. Agencies sell trips from the south to the north all year round.
