Weather in the American West in August

I'm still on the fence about heading to the American West next summer... I know it'll be crowded, but what's really making me hesitate is the heat. Is it bearable for hiking?

The West is vast and sometimes high-altitude. Any specifics? Yellowstone is amazing, Death Valley a bit less so.

I was considering the Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas area...

Bryce is at high altitude, so temperatures will be lower. Let's say between 25 and 30°C. On the other hand, Vegas is usually really hot in the summer (around 40°C).

Bryce Canyon in the very early morning is really nice for hikes. Vegas is hot, noisy, dirty, and not great. But that’s just my opinion.
