Holiday in Brittany with 3 kids (5 months, 4 and 7 years old)

I’m starting to plan our summer 2025 holiday. Yes, I know, I’m getting a head start 😄, but since I’m pregnant, I’d rather have as much ready as possible before baby arrives at the end of March 👶. We’re a family of 5, and this year, we’d like to visit Brittany (not too hot—perfect for us! 🌡️). We already know the southern area a bit, as well as the Saint-Malo region, but this time, we’d like to explore the north of Finistère. We’re looking for an area that’s still quite wild, away from the crowds. We’d also like to find some fun activities to keep our two older kids (4 and 7) busy 👧🧒. We’re good walkers, and we’ll have a baby carrier for the youngest. Which area would you recommend? Any ideas for places to visit, beaches, or family-friendly activities? For the kids, the beach is obviously a must, and visiting lighthouses generally works well too—there’s an adventurous side to it, and the visits don’t last too long. The St. Mathieu lighthouse is amazing (my favorite, my grandparents lived nearby) with the old abbey at its feet, the cenotaph, the cannons, and the GR trail—it keeps everyone busy. Nearby, there’s the Fort de Berthaume, which is also great to visit and often offers plenty of activities in the summer. If it rains, the pool in Plougonvelin is nice, with slides and such.

If it rains, Océanopolis in Brest is an option, but I haven’t been there in ages, so I don’t know what it’s like now.

The islands too! Sein, Molène, Ouessant—just the boat trip is an attraction in itself, plus exploring the island. I’ve been to Ouessant twice; it’s stunning and really wild, best explored on foot or by bike.

For the kids, there’s also *La Récré des Trois Curés*, a small amusement park (I think it’s grown a lot). We used to go every summer as kids and loved it.

Here are my random ideas, just for the area I know well. And if you want a break from crêpes, go try a good *kig-ha-farz* at the Keringar farm! ;)

Good evening, I’ve got another suggestion for you: the Plougasnou and Saint-Jean-du-Doigt area. The reason: there are two very shallow beaches, perfect for kids—the Saint-Jean-du-Doigt beach facing north and the Primel beach in Plougasnou facing northeast. They’re just a few kilometers apart.

There are also west-facing beaches on the Plougasnou side of the Morlaix Bay, but from what I remember (summer 2023), I found them less suitable for children.

Activities: For the 7-year-old, look into a sailing school; for the 4-year-old, I’m not sure.

Excursions and visits: the Château du Taureau (by boat) and the grand cairn of Barnenez. Hiking: the GR34 trail. Rugged and wild east of the Saint-Jean-du-Doigt beach toward Locquirec. Much quieter in the other direction toward the Morlaix Bay.
