Paying for a visa by credit card in Laos

Hi, I’ve read on various semi-official websites that you can pay for the 30-day visa at the counter at the airport by credit card. Has anyone arrived in Laos recently (I’ll be landing in Luang Prabang) and can confirm this? If not, which currencies are accepted? Thanks in advance. Alain

Hi, I’m kinda going off-topic here, but the easiest way is to apply for an e-visa in advance. Luang Prabang International Airport is one of the entry points that accepts the e-visa. The official government site to apply for an e-visa is: https://www.laoevisa.gov.la/index The e-visa processing time is usually 3 business days.

Hi Pierlu, No, you’re not off-topic at all! The e-visa is definitely a good option, but it’s $10 more than the visa on arrival... Still, it’s probably the option I’ll go with. Thanks for your input! Alain

Hi there, I was there at the start of this year. Getting the visa on arrival was really easy, but no card payments (or at least I didn’t see the option). $50 (no euros accepted) and one photo, and it took us 10 minutes.

Watch out for the e-visa—it’s only valid for 60 days after the approval date. Plan your exit accordingly! !
