Hiking and Swimming in Mauritius in April

Hi,
We're planning to visit Mauritius in April. We'd like to do some beginner-level hikes but we're also wondering if we'll be able to enjoy the beach or if the water will be too cold.
Thanks for your replies

Hi there,
we want to know... if the water will be too cold.
Mauritius is a tropical island! 😊

Hi there.
The water will be warmer than in Le Pradet in summer!
Hiking should be doable, but Reunion Island is a better bet...
Do you hike in Le Pradet or the surrounding area in July-August?

Thanks, that’s exactly the info I was looking for about the sea.
For hiking, we’re more into relaxed, easy walks. We avoid July and August here—it’s way too hot.
Have a great day

I can totally picture it—I used to live near Aix-en-Provence... You can hardly hike in the summer, first because it’s banned (fire risks), but even if it were allowed, with the heat, you wouldn’t really feel like it. In Mauritius, there are probably some shady spots, but the sun is still intense, and the island’s layout isn’t exactly inviting for that kind of activity. Here, everything revolves around the sea: beaches, snorkeling, diving, fishing, sailing, etc...

Hi there,
Regarding the hikes, the most beautiful one is probably the climb up Le Morne Brabant, in the southwest of the island. That said, it’s not what I’d call beginner-level because the last part is more like rock climbing (you really need to use your hands). Still, the beginning is easy and offers wonderful panoramic views.
