Traveling to Thimphu (Bhutan) from Kolkata by land

Hi everyone! So great to be back on this Forum! My question is in the title: is it possible to reach Bhutan from Kolkata by entering through the Phuntsholing border crossing? If anyone has already done this route, it would really put my mind at ease... 😉 Thanks in advance for all your replies! 🤪 Lydie

Yes, it's possible. You need to have a visa, which you can only get from one of the many authorized agencies. You also need a double-entry Indian visa. I think it's about a six-hour drive to Thimphu.

After crossing the country from west to east, you can exit through the Indo-Bhutanese border post at Samdrup in the east, which then allows you to reach Guwahati, the capital of Assam. After that, for getting to Bangladesh, I have no idea. There must be a way, since many Bangladeshis—who are visa-exempt—visit Bhutan.
