What to do in Perth, Australia in March?

It depends on what you like doing while traveling, how much time you have, and your mode of transportation. In March, the weather will be nice and warm, and the days are still long.

Among Australia’s major cities south of the Capricorn, we prefer Perth and its region. Less flashy than Sydney, less refined than Melbourne, less showy but also less touristy. Beyond the city—including Fremantle—its surrounding areas are stunning, and you should explore the peninsula all the way to Albany and Esperance.

How long do you plan to stay in Perth? Are you just looking to visit Perth and its surroundings, or are you planning a road trip to the south or north?

Perth, Fremantle, and the nearby areas can easily be explored in a week.

Let me know what your plans are, and I can give you some tips based on what you have in mind.

I went there in April and the weather was perfect—March should be really pleasant too. I personally loved Fremantle, and there’s so much to see in the area. I went a bit north to the Pinnacles and then a bit south to Cape Leeuwin, but I think doing a loop in the South would’ve been better than backtracking like I did. Otherwise, if you’re more into desert landscapes and/or snorkeling, I’d recommend heading up to Exmouth and flying back instead. That takes a good ten days though. Around Perth, if you don’t have much time, there’s also Rottnest Island and Margaret River, of course.
