Hi, Does anyone know the current condition of the track from Afellah Ighir to the N7 north of Imitek, passing by the Akka Mines? About 57 km total, with the first 14 km (up to the Mine) paved and the rest unpaved. Thanks in advance

Hello, Route traveled in October 2023. Excellent embankment track from the N7 to the mines, then tarmac. Have a good evening

Hi, Is a Dacia Sandero doable? Not too much elevation change? The early October rains destroyed everything—hopefully there’s a slight descent. For example, the road from Tamanart to north of Anamer/Smougen is practically gone. Thanks

Hello, I can’t tell you the state of the track and road after the heavy rains. They serve the mine and several villages, so there’s priority to keep them passable. It was doable in 2WD without any issues (wide, well-graded), I didn’t need to engage 4WD to drive it. Have a good day

One last question— since there won’t be any signs, I guess it’ll still be impossible to take the wrong turn anyway. The grading of the track should make it obvious. Thanks

I don’t recall having any orientation issues with the GPS. Here are a few points:

On the N7 coming from Imitek at the point 29°38'43.63"N 8°25'14.06"W, take a left at the start of the track. Ignore the few secondary track branches. Stay on the main axis. Arriving at the mining site 29°29'33.69"N 8°43'26.88"W, take a right. In the switchbacks at the point 29°29'41.98"N 8°45'58.68"W, ignore a track that continues straight (3rd bend) but keep climbing. At the point 29°30'16.80"N 8°48'8.08"W, ignore the track straight ahead and take the right turn. At the intersection 29°30'42.04"N 8°48'47.85"W, take a left for Afella Ighir, which is about 1 km away.

Yeah, but I was actually thinking you had a GPS. Me? Nope. But I think once you're at the mine, the direction toward Afellah isn't complicated. Still, I'll be doing the route in the opposite direction
