Where to spend more time when visiting Argentina?

Hi,
I’m planning a trip to Argentina with friends for 21 days.
Could you tell me which places are worth spending more time in—or not—since the country is so big?

No offense taken, but as a foreigner, if I asked you the same question about France, what would you say?

Hi there!
We traveled in February 2024 as a group of four.
2 days in Buenos Aires
7 days in El Calafate
3 days in Ushuaia
2 days in Iguazu
6 days in Salta
Plus 2 days of travel for the round trip from Paris

Hi there,
The country is indeed huge, so the best choice depends on the season!
In winter, Patagonia isn’t recommended.
In November, we spent sixteen days in the NOA (Northwest Argentina), exploring the valleys around Salta.
The Atacama Puna is a wonder—check it out HERE

Depending on the season, I’d tend to recommend the Salta region—there are so many landscapes to see and hikes to do!

Thanks for this amazing travel journal!
We’ll be using it for inspiration in October-November
for our visit to the Salta region.

Hello and thank you for your kind words! It’s really nice, especially since we’ve never heard back from the person who started this discussion.
October-November is a great season in the NOA (Northwest Argentina). The candelabra cacti will be in bloom.
The Argentine Puna of Atacama is a feast for the senses. This region is much less crowded than its Chilean neighbor. Make sure to acclimate well beforehand before tackling the high altitude.

Hi,
What was the price of your tour with Socompa? How many people were in your group? Thanks

Hi there,
For the price, I don’t remember anymore since it was over twelve years ago, and even if I did, it wouldn’t make sense today.
Anyway, the agency had asked if we’d be okay with a third person—someone from Buenos Aires—which helped lower the bill. So there were three of us (I mention it in my travel journal).

Hi there,
It's clear that prices must have more than doubled, and it seems like things are only going to get worse...
We’ll try to contact the agency to get a better idea.
We had an amazing experience on a tour of the Salar de Uyuni and the Sud Lípez, sharing a 4x4 with other travelers.
Did you stay at an "estancia" that was easily accessible during your trip?
I’d love to learn about sheep farming methods.
We’re really drawn to wide-open spaces.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Good evening,
We’ll try to contact the agency to get an idea.
Of course, that’s the best way to get informed.
Did you stay during your trip in an easily accessible "estancia"? I’d be interested in learning about sheep farming.
No, we didn’t do that kind of activity.
We’re more drawn to wide-open spaces.
Argentina is definitely an ideal destination for that.
