Layover Taxis in the Canary Islands

Jany95 · 2025-01-01

Hi there, We’re leaving Las Palmas on 13/01 for a cruise on the MSC Opera with stops in Fuerteventura, Funchal, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and La Palma. Has anyone taken taxis from these places to explore the islands, and how much should we budget to compare with the ship’s excursions? Can you negotiate the fare? Any drivers you’d recommend? Thanks for your tips 👍 and happy New Year 2025 😊😊

Taxi stops in the Canary Islands

Hi Jany, We’re in Spain in the Canaries, so haggling isn’t really a thing here. In Lanzarote, the most beautiful part of Timanfaya Park can only be visited by bus, on a special road through the lava. If you take a taxi, you’ll still have to get back on the bus for that tour—don’t miss it! In Tenerife, there are plenty of taxi companies that offer set prices and advance bookings. Just look them up online.

Do you know this site that gives you an idea of transportation options and costs, anywhere you go?

Hi Jany, Best wishes to you too, with lots of travels ahead. You can find a more complete overview of the island on my blog: https://escalescroisiere.fr/escale-a-lanzarote.html, a summary of several stops there.
