EVisa issue: invalid address

Chalembert · 2025-01-06

Hi there, I’m planning a trip to Laos in February. I tried to apply for my eVisa online, but the system keeps telling me that both my address and the address of my hotel upon arrival are invalid, without any further explanation. I’ve modified them, shortened them several times, but nothing changes. I sent a message to ask for clarification but haven’t received a response. Has anyone else run into this problem? How was it resolved?

Thanks in advance, and happy New Year! 🙂

hi,

No accents, apostrophes, or anything? And just putting the city?

Otherwise, it’s really easy to get it on arrival. A year ago, it was $40 + $1 (administrative fees?) and 1 (or 2?) photos

Hi, Yes, no apostrophe, accent, or anything else. But I included my number and street—do you think just the city is enough?

Hi Béatrice, If it doesn’t work, that’ll be the solution. I just prefer having the visa beforehand when possible—it saves time on arrival... and it reassures me. I also have the option to go to the consulate in Saigon, but it’s not the easiest.

Hi, I received my e-visas yesterday, which I applied for last Thursday. I also had a problem when filling out the address. I managed to fix it by removing all the hyphens...! I guess all punctuation marks should be avoided, as well as accents. In the "state/province" field, I put the name of the department, and it worked.

Hi Albru, They replied this morning that I shouldn’t use commas, dashes, accents, etc., and it worked. If I were alone, I wouldn’t have bothered and would’ve just gotten it on arrival, but my wife really doesn’t like uncertainty, so it puts her mind at ease 🙂 Worth remembering.

Well, "all sorted" then! Last year in Hoi An (Vietnam), the queue at immigration was insane—we waited nearly 45 minutes, while the line for e-visas was super short...! If you can afford to pay a few extra $, don’t hesitate. Enjoy your trip to Laos! We’re arriving in Luang Prabang this Sunday for 9 days.

Safe travels! Since I’m short on time, I’ve only planned Vientiane and Luang Prabang—let us know if the latter isn’t worth it 😊, but if you say no, I won’t listen 😄
