Mistake with middle name on flight ticket

I’m leaving for Brazil in two weeks with my partner and just realized I made a mistake on the flight ticket regarding the middle name. Usually, I never include one, but this time I wanted to add my partner’s middle name—and instead of putting it on his ticket, I put it on mine. So now I have an incorrect middle name (a male one, no less!). Otherwise, the first and last names are correct. Do you think this could cause a problem, given that the middle name is optional? Thanks!

If it’s just a letter, they’re sometimes flexible, but with a whole first name missing from your passport, that won’t fly. If you booked through an online reseller or travel agency, you’ll need to contact them, but it’ll cost you an arm and a leg—or you might have to buy a new ticket. If you bought directly from the airline online or at their office, call them. Either way, you need to act now. Worst case, you cancel the ticket and buy another one—it might even be cheaper, and you could get some taxes back.

For next time, one first name is usually enough unless the airline specifies "first names as they appear on the passport."

I finally called Air France, who told me to call the merchant site I bought the tickets through. So I called Expedia, who removed the middle name from the flight ticket without any problem or fees. So I'm relieved, but I wouldn't have paid for another ticket just for such a minor error anyway.
