Missing middle name on e-ticket

Damienve · 2025-01-14

Hi there, I bought a flight ticket with Air India departing from Paris and arriving in Bangkok with a layover in Delhi. I didn’t include my third given name when booking, but it’s on my passport. Could this cause a problem at boarding?

Also, with an 8-hour layover in Delhi—no need to recheck bags or leave the international zone—do I need an Indian transit visa?

Thanks for your help!

No problem at all. I have 3 first names on my passport and always give just one. For the visa, since I'm not sure, I'll let those who know answer. But in my opinion, a visa isn't required.

Hi there, No visa worries for the layover—you’ve got a single ticket with Air India, your bags will be checked through to Bangkok so you won’t need to collect them. You’ll just need to head to the transit desks, go through security again following the “connection” signs, then check the screens for your departure gate. With an 8-hour layover, you’ve got plenty of time; we did the same thing last year on our way to Tokyo. [;)]

Hi there, I’ve been flying for over 30 years now. Even though I have three first names on my passport, I’ve always booked flight tickets using just my surname and my first first name.

Hi,

You won’t have any issues, including with the visa, since you’re staying in the transit zone.

8 hours is a long time...
