Seascape Cruise: Sold-Out Excursions

Poupina652 · 2025-01-18

Hello, I’m reaching out for your valuable advice before our Caribbean cruise on the Seascape (departing February 22, 2025, from Miami).

In Jamaica, we’re considering the excursion to the Green Grotto Caves. If anyone has done this excursion, what did you think, please? We also planned to take the “Tulum Mayan Ruins” excursion in Mexico and the “Island-to-Island Panoramic Tour, Hell and Starfish Point” in the Cayman Islands. Unfortunately, these two excursions are fully booked. What do you recommend? Can we visit on our own (not the Mayan ruins, as they’re too far and the risk of missing the ship is too high in my opinion)? Is it safe enough? Will these excursions be available on the ship (in case of cancellations, for example)? For your information, I’m traveling with my parents, who are 80 years old. Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions...

Hi there,

I’m not sure where your port of call is (Playa del Carmen?), but it’s pretty easy to take a bus to Tulum (about 1 hour’s travel).

We dock in Cozumel (Cozumel Island)... so we take a boat to reach the mainland, then a bus, and the same on the way back... a bit risky for us...

Ah yeah, the boat issue is still a thing... there are 7 crossings a day, but it all depends on the sea conditions. If it's calm, it should be doable. How long is the stopover? (From what time to what time?)

It might be tight, actually. You need 1 hour for the crossing there and 1 hour back, but you also have to factor in waiting times for the different connections. 3 hours there and 3 hours back... that leaves little time on site. And the ferry for the crossing seems a bit pricey to me. It’s doable with a taxi in Playa del Carmen that takes you to Tulum and waits for you, but the excursion might end up being a bit expensive!
