Transport from Ivato Airport to downtown Tana

It's all in the title! What are the options and fares for getting from the airport to downtown? My last reference there is 10 years old...

Hi there, There are official taxis right outside the terminal exit. The advertised fare was 90,000 Ar, which is just under 20 €. Alternatively, some hotels offer shuttles and usually have rates that are cheaper than the official taxis. Sometimes *much* cheaper if the hotel is near the airport.

The Niaouly Hotel, which is actually a well-known hotel, charges 60,000 for the transfer—90,000 if you're not careful! I think that's way overpriced!!! Is it possible to negotiate once you're outside the airport?

It’s up to you to decide. There’s nothing stopping you from negotiating, of course. Either way, you’ll see with your hotel if they have a shuttle.

We’re talking about 12 € (60,000) or 18 € (90,000)—just a 6 € difference, even though prices have gone up quite a bit in Madagascar, including fuel.

It might seem excessive, but honestly, the only time I had to take a taxi, I didn’t negotiate.
