Which site to book your vacation apartment in China?

Hi there, I’m interested in a trip to China in October (I’ve got another destination in mind too). My dilemma is whether to go through an agency for a package or plan the trip with my husband. China’s a huge country, and we’ve got between 15 and 20 days. The language barrier could be an issue—I’ve got basic (very basic) English. I’ll take my time reading your travel journal—it looks really comprehensive!

The country has really opened up to foreigners over the past few years, so there are lots of signs in English, photos of dishes in restaurants, and with Google Translate (using a VPN), you can get around everywhere.
