Camino del Cid: picking up our car in Burgos

Hi, We’re planning to start the Camino del Cid from Vivar del Cid (Burgos) to Atienza in April. How can we get back and pick up our car, which we left in Burgos? I haven’t found any info on this. Thanks for your tips!

Thanks for your reply! We had contacted that company. You have to go via Madrid to get back to Burgos—it’s a bit long, so we’re hoping to find another way. We’re also drawn to the wild side of the Camino del Cid. If you’ve got any great tips, don’t hesitate to share!

From what I can see, there’s no direct train to this spot.

The Camino del Cid is pretty desert-like—that’s actually why we’re going, if you like that sort of thing, of course. We found two campgrounds: one in Burgos and another in Albarracín (we stopped in Teruel, which has a train station), but it’s easy to find spots for wild camping. There are fountains in every village, but be careful—shops only open from 3 PM in the afternoon. Even though it’s Spain in April, don’t forget to pack a light sweater. We’re at altitude, and it doesn’t stay warm at night (April 2024). We had white frosts several mornings.

Thanks for the info. Since I don’t like camping, I’ll check out what hard-roof accommodations are available.

About 30 km from Atienza, there's a train station in Sigüenza with regional trains to Madrid. From Madrid to Burgos, most trains are long-distance with no option to transport a non-disassembled bike, but there’s also sometimes a "medium-distance" train with 3 bike spots that you need to reserve when buying your ticket (source: Renfe website).
