Visa requirement lifted (Belarus)

It’s currently possible for a French national to enter Belarus through any land or air border point and stay for up to 30 days, for any reason. I did this last November, driving my own car from France, entering at Terespol and Brest-Litovsk (7-hour queue on the Polish side for political reasons and 3 hours of formalities on the Belarusian side), and exiting through Lithuania (1.5 hours on the Belarusian side and 3.5 hours on the Lithuanian side for political reasons). The rest of the trip was a real pleasure...

Hello! Yes, since early 2024, don’t forget to register—it’s easier if you’re staying at a hotel. How many euros for crossing the border with a car (excluding personal insurance)?

Entering Belarus with or without a visa? With a visa, you can also enter Russia via Belarus, I think.

Thanks

At the entrance, you have to pay 2 BYN (Belarusian rubles) for disinfection, and at the exit there’s a departure tax of 40 BYN. Right now, foreigners are still banned from crossing the BY/RUS border, even with a Russian visa, because there’s no customs control—Russia and Belarus are in a customs union. Fingers crossed this changes soon with new e-visas, valid for both countries at the same time.
