Getting to South Beach from Miami Airport: Which Transport Option Is Best?

Benishoes · 2025-02-07

Hi there,

We’re arriving soon at a hotel near Miami Airport for a 2-day weekday stay before heading west. We’d like to spend a day in South Beach and are wondering whether it’s better to drive there despite the parking costs and the hassle of finding a spot, or if there’s a cheaper alternative.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions! 😊

Getting to South Beach from Miami Airport: Which Transportation Option Should You Choose?

In South Beach, there's a public parking lot on 7th Street between Washington Ave. and Collins Ave. (you need to arrive via Washington since 7th St. is one-way in that section). I've been there several times, and except for one Sunday afternoon when it was packed because of the beach, I've always found a spot. I don’t remember the exact prices, but since it's a public parking lot, it stays reasonable. Plus, the advantage is you pay when you leave, so no time limits or need to lug around a case of quarters for the meter!

So, if it were me, I’d go by car!

South Beach from Miami Airport: Which Mode of Transport to Choose?

😏Awesome! Thanks Caussat, I’ll keep that tip in mind. I was starting to think it’d be better to take an Uber and save on 2 days of car rental. But I prefer this public parking solution—seems like a pretty reasonable price. I’d also read that parking meters get exponentially more expensive, kind of like in Paris. On the other hand, I guess you can pay for parking meters via an app instead of having to gather a ton of quarters 😕
