Which airline for a flight to Cambodia?

Hi, I’m torn between a few airlines for late March departing from Paris: Vietnam Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Qatar Airways. Which one is reliable with a comfortable flight? Air France’s schedule doesn’t work for me. Thanks for your feedback!

Hi there,

I’ve flown with these airlines—they’re all pretty similar, so it really comes down to the prices and schedules they offer. 😉

Hi there,

I’ve already used all three: they’re all really good. On the reference site Skytrax, which rates almost every airline in the world, all three are rated higher than Air France. Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines have been 5-star rated for years. They usually offer pretty short connection times.

Hi there, among the good airlines for Cambodia, don’t forget EVA Air, which is based in Taiwan. Great service quality, the most generous baggage policy, and often the best price among good airlines. Small downside: a long 6-hour layover on the way back. For some airlines, they don’t cover the entire route—it might be a codeshare.

Singapore Airlines, of course, is a very good airline. Prices are often a bit higher, but keep an eye on their promotions—it can be worth it.

Hi,

It avoids Russia and goes like European airlines through Turkey, arriving via southern China. Flight duration is between 12h30 and 13h.

Hi there, and thanks.

Without forgetting that a flight is never totally straight, a Paris-Phnom Penh route varies depending on the airline:

Vietnam Airlines: Southeast Asian route* via HCMC, ~10,600 km. Qatar Airways: Southeast Asian route* via Doha, ~10,770 km. Singapore Airlines: Southeast Asian route* via Singapore, ~11,975 km. Eva Air: via Turkey (Istanbul used as a left-turn point) and Taipei, ~12,985 km.

That’s about a 3-hour flight difference between the shortest and longest—definitely not insignificant.

As mentioned, things aren't very straightforward at the moment... Turkey, Central Asian republics, northern India. Flying over New Delhi is really impressive. A huge black mass of pollution with holes where the city lights shine through. It happens at night. Then China and Taiwan. On the way there, it's about 13-14 hours of flight, and on the way back, with a headwind, it's around 16 hours. It's long, indeed.

Hi,

I just read that Turkish Airlines will fly to Phnom Penh starting December 10th, so that’s one more option.

hi there, Malaysia is resuming its Paris flights, so that's another option. We'll see if the opening of the new airport leads to direct flights.
