Tips for a trip to Ladakh (India)

I'm planning a short stay in Ladakh from August 12th to 23rd, 2026. Delhi to Leh to start. I don’t have all the details yet, but I’m planning to visit Thiksey Monastery and other monasteries. Accommodation: guesthouse at Thiksey Monastery Accommodation: Nyerma Nunnery ETC....

Everything needs to be planned and organized. I’d love to hear your suggestions and experiences.

Hi there, ladak.free.fr is a goldmine of info if you're not familiar with it. Great idea for the monasteries—Hemis Monastery is also worth a visit. There are guesthouses on-site. You can rent scooters for 700 INR/day to get around...easy! Leh is a great base, but it gets really hot—it’s scorching. The Sham Valley is also amazing—it could be a nice option for a short stay like yours. Likir Monastery is on the way...accommodation available on-site.
