Feedback on 3-week Argentina itinerary

Hi there, Could you let me know if this itinerary is doable: 14/09: Arrival in BA at 9:45 PM 15/09 to 16/09: BA 17/09: Flight to Iguazu early in the morning + visit the falls on the Brazilian side 18/09: Visit the falls on the Argentine side 19/09: Flight to Salta + visit Salta 20/09 to 25/09: Northern + Southern Loop in 6 full days (rental car) 26/09 to 28/09: Tolar Grande 3 days (with an agency) 29/09: Flight to Puerto Madryn (arrival in the evening) 30/09: Valdes Peninsula 01/10: Valdes Peninsula + Punta Tombo + overnight bus to Bariloche 02/10 to 07/10: 6 days to see Bariloche and the surrounding area by car (what are the must-sees?) 08/10: Flight to BA 09/10: Flight to Paris at 2:40 PM

Nothing’s impossible if you plan to visit airports and spend your time in transit.

For reference, we did half of your itinerary in a month (BA - Salta - Tolar Grande - Iguazu - Esteros del Iberá).

So, what do you think? 😉 I’m still weighing up my itinerary—I’ll probably skip Tolar Grande, spend more time around Salta with some loops, and definitely visit Valdés since it’s whale season and there are other marine mammals around. For flights, I’ll try to keep them to a minimum, but I’m really not keen on a 24-hour journey!

If it's possible, it depends on your arrival time in Iguazu because I see that you need half a day for the Brazilian side of the falls and a full day for the Argentine side

And it also depends on any potential flight delays, which aren’t uncommon in South America. FYI, ours was half a day late on a direct Salta-Iguazu flight. It’s a risk to keep in mind. Most of the time, you’ll have to connect through BA for domestic flights, which adds to travel time.

If I may, why go so far in such a short time? If it's for the wildlife, I’d suggest another option that doesn’t require taking a flight: the Esteros del Iberá.

Located in Corrientes Province, so relatively close to Iguazú Falls, the Esteros del Iberá are the second-largest wetlands in the world (esteros = marshes), making them somewhat of a small "Pantanal." It’s the country’s largest natural reserve, protecting an incredibly rich biodiversity: Yacare caiman, marsh deer, capybara, armadillo, rhea, otter, and countless bird species, many of which are endemic. Canoeing trips are a real treat. The only places I’ve seen such a concentration of wildlife are in East and Southern Africa.

The advantage for you is the location of the Esteros, between Iguazú Falls and BA. The challenge, I’ll admit, is getting from Puerto Iguazú to Mercedes, the gateway to the reserve where most accommodations are. You’ll need to stop in Corrientes. But overnight buses are very comfortable. From Corrientes to BA, the buses are direct.

Actually, it’s important to make the post visible to as many people as possible... You might reach a member who remembers their past trip and can answer you... For MDM (high-altitude mountain), good acclimatization is recommended, or take Diamox (after consulting your doctor) only if symptoms appear—but definitely not as a preventive measure.
