What's the best guide to prepare for the Blues Trail? (United States)

Hello everyone, and a big THANK YOU to all the travelers who took the time to reply to my last post and tell me that doing South India in 28 days was a sweet utopia. My dear friends, you were absolutely right. After 4 days in Goa, I settled for exploring all of Karnataka and its beautiful UNESCO-listed temples, and I loved it. Kerala and Tamil Nadu will have to wait until next year when I can take 6 weeks off.

But the purpose of this post is to ask you which guide or website would be best to prepare for the BLUES TRAIL I’d like to do in September or October 2025 over a month: 3 weeks to travel the route, enjoy Nashville a bit too, and the last week to explore Louisiana. I saw that *Le Routard* has a guide on Louisiana. Where else can I find more info?

Hello! Not too many tips for the Blues Highway that we skimmed through.

In Memphis, besides the music, don’t miss everything related to the Civil Rights Movement and Martin Luther King. And surprisingly for me, who’s absolutely not a fan: the other King, Elvis!

For Louisiana, I drew inspiration from papJ59’s blog. A goldmine!!! And also this trip report.

For the guide, there’s the Petit Futé *South* which is really good.

I did the Deep South in 2016. Here’s a rough outline of the route:

Montpellier/Atlanta/Montpellier for the flight. Rental car on site.

Atlanta; Auburn; Tuskegee National Museum; Crossing Alabama; Pensacola and the Blue Angels Show + Naval Aviation Museum; Mobile and the USS Alabama; New Orleans, French Quarter, Bourbon Street, plantations, bayous, and alligators; Natchez; A stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway; Vicksburg, Civil War Museum; Clarksdale, Blues Museum, Morgan Freeman’s bar; Memphis, Graceland, Beale Street, music museums; Jacksonville, Rockabilly Museum (but seems to be closed now); Nashville, music museums, live music bars; Lynchburg, the Jack Daniel’s Distillery; Murphy, North Carolina; Cherokee, North Carolina, Native American museums; Atlanta, Aquarium, and more.

Hi there, If you're heading to Louisiana, I’d recommend visiting "LAURA PLANTATION" (www.lauraplantation.com), which I toured a few years back. You never come away completely unmoved after a visit like that... especially after seeing so closely the living conditions of the enslaved people... and their "masters." Safe travels.
