Hi there. We’re planning a month in November to visit several places in China. This time, though, we’d like to do it with a car and driver (unlike our last trip to Sichuan, where we went on our own).

Hi, Even though I haven’t tried them myself, Ciel Yunnan has an excellent reputation and offers very reasonable rates. They organize transport or stays all over China, though they specialize in Yunnan Province.

Just to confirm—I’ve worked with them several times. They’re based in Kunming. I met them in person. Great hospitality, and Yan, the manager, speaks fluent French.

Good evening, I have the same plan as you, but for September, and I contacted CielYunnan/Ciel Chine—it’s the same agency, since we traveled with them in Yunnan back in 2019. We were supposed to do another trip in 2020, but COVID happened. I reached out to them again, but I haven’t gotten a response. My request is for about 30 days, and now I’m traveling solo, so I think that might be bothering them, or maybe they’re just swamped with work (that’s what Yan told me—he hadn’t had the time). If you’re traveling as a pair, they might be more responsive. Either way, our trip with them in Yunnan was great. Good luck and happy travels!

I think they’re swamped in April. It should also be possible to just hire a car with a driver when traveling solo, without taking the full package with hotels, guide, etc. We’re leaving next October-November for 30 days, or maybe a bit longer if we apply for a visa. First to Gansu (no agency), then a few days in Zhangjiajie (no agency either)—my daughter’s been raving about how beautiful the place is for ages…😇 We’ll finish our trip in Yunnan for just about ten days, and we’ll use Ciel Yunnan only for car rental, which lets us optimize the route. Honestly, they seem really competent—they’re very responsive and their rates look very reasonable compared to other Chinese agencies online.
