TAGTHAI Easy Pay for tourists?

Hi, I just read an article announcing the launch of a "tagthai easy pay" app that lets tourists pay with their phone, just like Thais do in shops by scanning the merchant’s QR code. Has anyone got more info? Are there any foreign-exchange fees or other charges? Can you top up this account with a simple transfer from our French bank account, or do you have to use cash? I guess it’s handy for avoiding too much cash while on holiday.

Hi, Pretty much every Thai bank offers this payment system. You need to visit them and they’ll explain how to install the app. The system deducts directly from your Thai bank account and covers expenses ranging from a 20 baht skewer to a 1,800 baht meal (for example). It’s also used to pay for groceries at Seven Eleven, Tops, Friends Hip, etc.
