Hi everyone, a question for those who’ve been lucky enough to visit Raja Ampat—should you consider preventive malaria treatment given its proximity to Papua? And how was the food hygiene situation? Thanks for your feedback! !

Yes, malaria is present, but mosquitoes aren’t everywhere on the islands—on some, they’re plentiful, while on others, you won’t see a single one!

As for food hygiene, we didn’t have any issues. It’s like anywhere else in Indonesia: very basic cooking in some homestays and spotless in others.
