Route from Calvi to Sagone without the Piana calanques

hi there, we're heading to Corsica for 3 weeks in early June and we'll be arriving in Calvi. Then we plan to head down to Sagone—what route should we take? We're a bit nervous about going through the Piana calanques because of the narrow roads. Thanks for your tips!

Unless you take the mountain roads—which are even worse—the only route is the D road, which goes through Piana.

The D81

Hi there! You’ve got the D81Bis running along the coast from Calvi to Galéria. Then you’ll join the D81. It’s a small, slightly bumpy road around Crovani (Argentella), but it’s really nice and hardly used, with amazing views. Check out the marine del'Argentella and its Argentella beach (worth seeing for its pebbles). Above this beach, there are the remains of an old mine that almost became a nuclear test site. And, north of the Crovani bay, you can see from the road—on the left when heading south—the ruins of a hunting lodge owned by Pierre Napoléon, Napoleon’s nephew (until 1870). If you’re not a fan of narrow roads, you’ll struggle taking the D81 (120 km): there’s no other option! Alternatively, from Calvi, head up to L’Île-Rousse, take the T30, then the T20, and from Ajaccio, go back up toward Sagone (about 200 km).
